O, Tannenbaum...
Since Nellie isn't here, we're Christmas polling it today in her honor. This is her poll, I'm re-gifting it. Idk if this is/was her tree or not but I'm sure it's been up since Halloween. Answer the questions.

I think of my family, (most of whom have passed) and therefore my gift to what's left is that I write to them and let them know I am still alive, and secretly hate people who refuse to see just how many blessings they have been given.

1 - Trever puts all the house and yard decorations up the day after Thanksgiving (I actually think his goofy ass was out there putting up some lights on Thanksgiving night). We usually also put the tree up around that time, but it actually didn't go up until this past Wednesday this year.

2 - We have a fake Virginia Pine we got at Target last year on sale for like 40% off...it's the most beautiful fake tree I've ever seen. And because it's fake, there are no funky bad spots, so I guess I could say it's the most beautiful tree I've ever seen, period. Except, we had a 25ft blue spruce in our front yard when I was growing up that was pretty amazing. Now we have our old fake tree outside with the rest of the decorations. Here it is all lit up the other night when it snowed...

3 - Seahawks stuff. We collect more every year.

4 - ^^ Blue

5 -

6 - Pine with cinnamon and vanilla...and chex mix. A hodgepodge.

I don't put up a tree.  I live alone in a small condo and I do no Christmas entertaining at my house.  And I have two cats who'd be like the squirrel in Christmas Vacation.  And my family is full of Grinches who think we shouldn't exchange gifts with each other.   It's just not worth the hassle to me.  About all I do is sit out the Christmas cards I get and hang a wreath or something on the door.

Peppermint is the smell that reminds me of Christmas.

If it wasn't for the kidlets, I probably wouldn't do much of anything.   Christmas was huge in our house while I was a kid, but it wasn't always happy.  A few years back, I lost two friends to a car accident on Hallowe'en, followed by another friend November 16th, and another one Dec 22nd.  They were among my closest friends at the time and life hasn't been the same since.  I just can't seem to want to "celebrate" however, this year we have a real tree.  My daughter doesn't remember ever having a real tree as I bought a fake one when she started insisting we put it up the first of December.  We put it up last weekend and it truly is a beautiful tree with not bare spots at all.  It is done in blue and white in honor of Brandon Thomas who was killed by a drunk driver Dec 6, 2012.

Sorry, don't mean to be a downer.  Just life.

It took me a little while to get back into Christmas after my dad died. He died in late November, but he LOVED Christmas. Trever's a lot like him in that respect; couldn't wait to get the decorations up, played Christmas music all the time immediately following Thanksgiving, took each of us kids shopping for a day for the rest of the family every year, woke us up at 5:00am up until the year he passed, "Santa's been here! Hurry up and see what he brought!" dancing like a crazy man to Sleigh Ride, The Nutcracker, and other holiday music...it was fantastic.

It killed a part of me when he passed, and Christmas kind of went along with him for the first few years. Even though Trever tried (the following year was when he surprised us at the new house) it was still tough. Now I've kind of thrown myself back into it though because I know it would break my dad's heart if he thought I didn't love Christmas. I still think Trever goes a little bit overboard (we had a chuckle at Monroe's house last night on Grimm - he said "and that's why you won't let me decorate inside!) but I do get into the spirit, for sure. I don't think that'll go away when Kiernan grows up and moves out. I'm not telling what to do, by any stretch, I'm just saying I totally get it...I was there at one point too.

I'm glad to hear that! My dad was huge on Christmas as well, and his passing left another hole.  I think a lot of it has to do with the day to day grind.  I wrapped some of Hunter's presents today and that helped a lot to put them under the tree.  I'll watch "The Family Man" later tonight and that will help more, I'm sure.  I'm trying.

And sorry, Ash. sad

The movies and music definitely help, that's for sure. And the baking...I only bake certain things this time of year, so when I start doing that it's kind of like,  "ooooh...Christmas is here!!"

Nobody in my family ever recovered the Christmas spirit after my dad died.  That's when we quit giving gifts to each other.  Christmas in Louisville is more toxic than the rest of the year.   I can't wait until I can move to be near my brother and sister in Texas for a variety of reasons, Christmas being one of them.

I just have a modest 6' fake tree up, which is only half the height of my wall.

I host for Thanksgiving every year, so, I put up my tree just before then. My tree is the artificial White kind.

Since I live in a Townhome, I don't decorate outdoors, but, when I owned a house, I did.

Cinnamon-Pine is the smell that reminds me of Christmas.
