F/E 12/20

Welcome back. This is the part of the locker room where you can sit and chat and chill for a while without offending or being shushed. Maybe you wanna watch a dvd or listen to your mp3. Yes, I rhymed. Something on your mind, post it! Random question, ask it? Hijacking is allowed and encouraged. Join the party, troll around, have a beer. It's cool. All are welcome, but please leave all BS in the hall.

The way my sports year is going...Of course, Kobe. Of course.

I need some Si Robertson in my life. This hiatus business is ***. What he said wasn't "vile", alarmist. He was stating his beliefs, so what? You disagree? Fine. I also disagree, and I was raised to believe all of the same things he was. My mom would absolutely agree with him and I still get to see her everyday. :/ People make me sick with all the constant worrying about things that don't affect them, or anyone else for that matter. He called people sinners. Stop the presses... apparently this is the first time anyone has ever been called that. Is this even a surprise, he's a 67 year old white christian man in the south. It's like the paula deen hoopla all over again. If you were surprised, you're probably slow.  In that statement, he called me a sinner. Uh, I am one. I'm pretty proud of that, actually. There are tons more important issues than this. I'm pretty much a liberal, and sometimes liberals really get on my nerves. Liberals and feminists and peta and conservatives and democrats and republicans and media and elitists and joe buck and fascists... idk what a fascist is. That's enough for now, but the list is much longer. Also, A&E, you handled it poorly. Dumbasses.

Enjoy your weekend!

Im glad the f**ker got kicked off the show.  Free speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences.

People that think they can hide behind a bible to get away with saying crap like that are the shi**iest human beings on the planet.  To cherry pick vague passages out of a fictional book to defend bigotry is cowardice to the utmost degree.   Jesus...fundamental christians really are dregs to society.   Nothing has stifled progress more or hurt this country more in the last twenty years than "christianity".

That wasn't uncle Si, that was the surlier head of the duck dynasty and the one who's college football QB job was taken over by Bradshaw when he quit.....Phil. I agree with pretty much all you said............though I believe A&E did what they thought they should do and just like it was Phil's right to state his opinion, it is A&E's right to do what they did. I do think all Phil's supporters are silly with their protesting and stuff. I doubt Phil Robertson cares one bit about A&E's decision. Nothing was taken from him. He still has his swamps, woods, guns, family, and millions. I sure wish people would raise a ruckus over veterans not getting the care they deserve, schools falling apart, etc.... but ....hey, worry about a family who seems pretty solid and together. USA! USA! USA!

In other news, Santa came to my classroom. If you tip your head so that your ear touches your shoulder, you should see he him pretty nicely. He was awesome.

Also, I want to say............................I LOVE DUSTIN BROWN!!!! The hate and dirty player label he seems to have earned over the last two years is ridiculous. sigh.

Oh.....I won't be there tomorrow, but GO KINGS GO! Beat the AVS!

Why does Santa have such a big sack?
Because he only comes once a year.

A cop, on his horse, says to a little girl, on her bike, "Did Santa get that bike for you?"
"Yes", she replies.
"Well, tell Santa to put a reflector on that bike, next year" and he fines the girl $5.

The little girl looks up at the cop and says, "Did Santa get you that Horse?"
The cop laughs and says, "why, yes, yes he did."
The little girl replies back, "well, next year, tell Santa that the f**kin d**k goes underneath the horse, not on top of it."

For all of you SNL fans, Jimmy Fallon or Justin Timberlake fans, they are both on SNL tomorrow night.

5 of my Fantasy Football teams are playing in the league championship this week. I wish I would've joined a money league now. I got lucky by taking Peyton & JC of KC.

I wonder if Russell Wilson is actually going to try to play baseball.

:| You would be. Most people who have a problem with it or "are glad" about it are people who don't watch it anyway. If you watched it, you would have already known that he believed in the bible and made your choices accordingly.

p.s. to you, it's fictional, not to all. That's no better than what he said. Your freedom of speech just now offended lots of christians. That kettle is always black.

p.p.s  I was ranty but that was really about my tv  show. You are quite the extremist, thank goodness you're pretty.

I know it was Phil, Teach, but Si is who I would miss. Si is what I was looking for when I ran across the stories. And yeah, It was their choice, I just think they could've ended it with that's his opinion, not the stations, idk. You're prob correct about Phil, he doesn't care. lol

True story.  Was at the plasma center this morning donating, when one of the female employees started getting a marine from Desert Storm ready to donate.  She saw a scar on his arm, and asked "what it was?"  When he told her it was from shrapnel, she asked if that was some kind of "skin disease?"  After he calmly explained to her what it was and she walked away, he looked at me and said "to think she's the one sticking a needle in my arm."  WOW!

Oh and I couldn't care less about Si or Phil or any of that family or that show. I couldn't care less about one dude's opinion or how the network handled it. My problem yesterday (and probably today and forevermore) is with people crying about his constitutional right to freedom of speech being violated. NO, it wasn't! The man was not arrested, he was not prosecuted. Stop being ignorant.

I know it's GIFriday, but bare with me for a few pics.

So I walk upstairs, sit down at my desk, look out the window and... W-T-F?
Snap a quick phone pic...

Obviously I grab a real camera, step outside and take a few more pics.

(quick switch to the closest zoom lense)

I took them in super duper hi-rez and noticed this in photoshop

Hahahahahahaha! I think he's actually saying 'cheese.'

I don't know what Super Hero / Transformer / 'Let's blow up the city' movie they're shooting, but it was effing loud for a few hours.

He makes this statement...

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong,” he says. “Sin becomes fine.”

Then the interviewer asks...

"What, in your mind, is sinful" ?

Then he says this...

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

The what now? (hold please... googling... ohhhhhhhh) Yeah they filmed a lot of the last one around here too. A few weeks ago, the right side of that building was where they were filming the Fast&Furious9 or whatever? That effing building is in everything! EVERY. THING.

The Walking Dead - where Merle cut his hand off & Rick enters the city on the horse & long hallways in the jail.
Hunger Games - apparently more than one?
Fast & Furious - they went home when Paul Walker Died :(
Kill the Messenger - (2014) Apparently Jeremy Renner bought ALL the cupcakes from the spot downstairs

And that doesn't even factor in all the TV shows and commercials. (every truck one for instance, lol) It's like once or twice a month something is going on over there.

I guess that's why Atlanta Movie Tours is two doors down from the bake shop on the ground floor?

The thing is, the hubbub is with the wrong comments. What he said about gays is basic wignuttia just said too colorfully. He forgot to code word and dog whistle it. This is what he said about growing up in Jim Crow America:

I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field .... They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word! ... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.

He basically said African Americans were better off and happier in a time of institutionalized racism than today, all part of an attack on the one thing the right-wing hates more than anything else, assistance to poor people. What he said about homosexuality was vile (and others agreeing with it doesn't make it OK, neither does how he was brought up, that's basically saying cultural racism and homophobia are OK), but the above paragraph is beyond vile, and I suspect it was this that made A&E take action. Keep in mind there is no guarantee yet that this "suspension" will have any meaning. Also, "liberals" did not make A&E do anything. Liberals do not have that kind of power in corporate America, or anywhere else.

Ash, I'm sure you're going to call me a hypocrite and intolerant, and you know what, I am. I'm intolerant of retrograde garbage like this, and this that makes me openly hostile of conservatives, religion, and religious conservatism. This is why the show apparently didn't show this part of their religion, only the parts that no can really argue against when done in the privacy of your own home (or in this case, a half fake TV show).

I want to fight. I wish liberals fought more, and that they realized conservatives never stop fighting. They will fight to the death, even if the argument doesn't make sense. It's because of this that public policy tilts to the right, and that the Democratic Party is full of corporate wimps who lose negotiations to idiots like Paul Ryan. So yeah, when an up and coming conservative icon steps in it, I want it full throatedly exposed, because this. is. what. these. people. believe, and if it isn't, they're saying to speak the language of those that do, and these ideas need to be destroyed and confined to the dustbin of history where they belong.

Politics is a war, and those on the left can not let up. Ever, because the other side won't and they don't and it shows in this case like it always does. Civility in this case is not the virtue, it's a surrender.

It's nothing to fight about. You shouldn't even care. Just disagree and go on. He isn't hurting anyone for feeling what he feels. But, I know for a fact that they are Christians on this site, and you and Jason should be getting the same reaction from them that you are giving to Phil. It is quite hypocritical to bitch about what the other side is doing and then turn around and do the exact same thing.

The comment right there is probably my fave for the month of December because in the simplest form, I'm sure it's true. OF COURSE, you never heard them say anything about it, Phil. You're white! Omg. Funny. But to him, because they weren't publicly bitching, they were happy. lol, i get it.

I'm not political and not a fan of war, so that probably adds to my thinking this is all exaggerated.

As someone who grew up in a household with a very Conservative father, who is even more so now and has been ridiculed by him and all his friends for the last 15 years. Also as someone who votes on a candidate more than a party line I do wish for one thing for 2014 to come out so that no one will have to seek out the truth.  I hear so many people who say that they don't want religion to interact with politics and that President Obama is running this Country into the ground.  So how about when the next election comes around, those people elect the person who they truly believe is God, and basically runs the Republican Party anyway.  That way when things are perfect they can sit down on Christmas Eve in their own special "Holy Place" and hear how He Saved Christmas and the USA.

Tell them to go for it.  I assume they hate me. I assume you all hate me. They have the advantage. There's more of them and they have plenty of appeasers like you. I'd say more, but someone would probably use it to try and get me fired.

While I don't like to get into the whole political war myself, I will say one thing - a big problem I have with the fundamentalist conservative Christian right winning the "war" is that I don't think that as a country, we should be forced to conform to laws set forth by rules based on the bible. Sure, there are some laws that make sense as to keep us from killing and maiming each other or to keep us a civil society...that's common sense though and not exclusively biblical. But as a non-Christian (as so many people in this country are) don't make me live by Christian rules. The gay marriage thing is a great example of this. There should never be any issue, legally, with gay marriage just because the bible tells us it's wrong.

People who spew hate tend to be hated, so probably. And, if I was them, I wouldn't comment either. Being judged for having religious beliefs is BS, I actually hope they just didn't read any of it. Also, no one is really winning. Worthless posturing will always exist, and no one ever truly wins.

I have to go now, so as the lone soldier in this ridiculous "fight", y'all win. YAY!

I didn't judge anyone for any old religious beliefs. I'm judging this old hillbilly that's become the spokesman of a certain brand of Christianity that promotes hatred and other retrograde crap. Whatever. Keep appeasing.

You judge religion and religious sects, people, and political sides, all. the. time. Please. Sell that to someone else.

And I know "appeasing" is meant to upset me, you've said it twice three times, but it doesn't because I'm not sensitive and I'm quite comfortable with who I am when it comes to beliefs, ethics, morality, etc. I'm great with my personality in general. I'm gone for real now.

We could do the polygamy thing if thats what you're into.   Im not swordfighting though...we have to work out a schedule or something.  Like...Monday, Wednesday, Friday and every other Sunday.

What i was originally thinking was that either you could strap one on and we could do a guy/guy wedding or i could tuck and tape and do a girl/girl wedding.

It's okay what she, or Phil, or Eric, or Sid, or Glenda, or you or I choose to believe. I guarantee you that nobody on this thread or any other believes exactly the same way...and that's okay. If she chooses to believe that, I'm not going to belittle her for it regardless of whether or not I agree. I owe her the same respect I ask from others.

(Edit to note: I do not, however, respect people who think they should be able to use that bible as an excuse when spewing hate and bigotry - but from what I learned when I was young in church, that's not what Jesus was about anyway and would be appalled by that behavior. I think most true Christians are aware of this.)

Hola amigos y amigas,

Wow I just signed on and all this conversation is a little intense for a Friday Night. I shall leave work early and start drinking thanks to all of you!!
All I have to say about all this is, I believe how I believe, I don't try to force that down anyone else's throat. It's not for me to decide and if gay's should marry, and I don't think the gov't has the right to decide that. It in no way affects my life and really people should just be allowed to be happy with their lives and choices.
His opinion is his. If other people are going to change their own opinions because of one person from a reality show expresses what he thinks, well then those are weak minded people.  Opinions are like a**holes, everybody has them and they all stink.
