Betting on games doesn't improve your performance on the field. Whatever McGwire took did.

Improving one's individual performance does not attack the very foundation of the integrity of the game either.   When a player/manager puts himself out with organized gambling, He has just handed the keys to the integrity of the game over to organized crime.  There is a clause in every professional contract that explicitly states that if a player/manager/coach or any other employee/ front office members gambles on baseball, it's a lifetime ban.  Rose knew that, and so does the gamblers so the first threat is blackmail.  Then there is the losses, and there will be losses.  The front man makes the player/manager.coach/front office/employee an offer they can't refuse.  That's why Kennesaw Mountain Landis handed out those bans from the World Series scandal   I played the game in the minors as a catcher until an injury ended it so I know what's written right in every contract.   There is NO PLACE in professional baseball for Pete Rose.  Or anyone else that gambles on baseball.  Besides, did you read Dowd's report to the commissioner after the investigation?  It took three pages in Sports Illustrated.  BTW, I don't think any off the juicers should be allowed in.

I might be wrong but doing things on my own that effects the Game is wrong.
Doing things that's personal that doesn't have any effect on the game Explain?  Yes
Pete Rose was gambling. was he telling his peers to screw up so they could all win?

No brainer.   Pete wantonly broke a known rule that he was keenly aware of.  McGwire never broke any of baseball's rules.  Therefore, he deserves the hall infinitely more than Rose does.

Not at all.  Just that Rose knew the anti gambling rules and knew the penalties.  What McGwire publicly admitted to taking was not against the rules at the time and if he covertly took items on the banned substance list, there was no MLB penalty in place at the time he was using it.

Conversely....  You are saying that gambling on games involving your team is OK?
