I went!

I love what this place is.

Then there was this. Look familiar? Swan House was used in Catching Fire.

Haiiii!
All caught up, and I'm officially "Back"!

We have dead mice in our yard. Well, just one dead mouse. I don't know how it got there, but I don't have a shovel, and i'm not picking it up. This means I have to take my dogs outside on a leash so they don't eat it. We need to talk to our neighbors and see if they put poison out for them or not...not to tell them not to, but so we know how psycho careful we need to be about the dogs being outside.

We went shopping for hockey gear this weekend at Play It Again Sports. We figured we could get a bunch of stuff used. Trever found some really nice skates that haven't been worn at all for less than $100. I have to order new, but since I'm a girl and I don't fit in adult skates, mine will be cheap too. The ones I'm looking at are $65. I have skates, but they're a little too narrow and they hurt my tootsies.

I got a really pretty hanging plant yesterday for my deck:

Since you're not my insurance person or a member of my condo association management company, you get a free pass.

And I'm over it now.  smiley

Look who showed up for Louisville's induction into the ACC tomorrow.

I feel like a bit of an idiot as I keep seeing this Holly Molly or holly polly or...................Ok, I just looked again and it's "Holly Lobby" all over twitter, but I have no idea what it is.  Remember I am a canuck.

Worked 10 hours at the golf course yesterday.  My trailer is out there, so I agreed to clean the outhouses (not nearly as bad as it sounds) in exchange for rent.  That took me an hour.  Then I started my shift in the clubhouse.  There was a tournament on to celebrate Canada Day and we got people signed in, drinks delivered and the beer cart loaded.  We headed out for a round, then restocked and headed out again.  Made it to hole 9 (we go backwards) and the cart quit.  I tried everything I could think of and I could not get that sucker to refire.  Soooooo I ran back to the clubhouse, grabbed my own cart and headed up to hole 7 to pick up the boss.  He tried all kinds of things as well, and finally got it to work, but it wouldn't work for long.  He showed me how to get it to move, then we motored it up to the top of hole 7 and parked it.  I kept my own cart and ran back and forth with it, delivering drinks to the competitors.

When they finished playing, they headed inside for dinner.  After dinner and prizes, they all headed back out on the course for a "horse race" and again, I used my own cart to deliver drinks.  My tips for this entire day of extra effort??? $24

All in all it was a 10 hour day, followed by a 9 hour day at the regular job today.

Tomorrow is Canada Day!  I have tomorrow and the next day off.  Time to catch up on laundry, gardening, and some relaxing outside.  Supposed to be 26C or 79F tomorrow, and 28C or 82F on Wednesday.  Summer is finally here!

It's funny how different housing markets are across the country. In Montana a similar house would go for about half what we'll pay for this if our offer is approved, and it'd probably go for exponentially more in NY. Even in the city about 35 minutes south of here, it'd go for almost twice what we'll be paying. Crazy.

Hobby Lobby and Michael's sell baubles and beads, glue guns and glitter sticks...all the things that craft-y (craft-ish?) people like Jess and Leigh like. (Along with selling some home goods type stuff, I think. I don't shop much, or craft at all, but I'm kinda familiar with them.) (Ashlie, are you craft-y too?! Did not know that. You and Leigh must've gotten it from your dad.)  Hobby Lobby "won" (based on religious grounds) a controversial case before the US Supreme Court involving insurance coverage for contraceptives. They basically want to pick what methods their female employees can use, even eliminating some that are needed for reasons other than contraception. I try not to get too wrapped up in politics, especially in forums like this, so someone else could probably explain it much better than I. (I suppose you could say I'm kind of middle of the road, politically-speaking, but I didn't agree with the decision based on my admittedly somewhat limited knowledge of the case.) Anyway, I say they "won", because they pissed off a hella lot of people, primarily women, who are their primary customer base. It's probably going to mean a big boost to their competitors' bottom lines, at least for a while. (Michael's is one of their main competitors.)  You should check out the #DrHobbyLobby hashtag for a rip-roaring good time! People were tweeting #DrHobbyLobby and asking him for medical advice. It had me ROFLMAO way past my bedtime last night. (I'm in the middle of a nasty RA flare right now, so LMAO'ing is not coming that easily to me, let alone ROF'ing while doing it.) Twas hilarious, and even ol' postmenopausal HouTxFanJan had to chime in a few times.  (I may or may not have asked him if he treated pets too and posed a canine contraceptive question.)  devil

Well, I saw it on twitter first, and actually clicked to see what it was all about, but with limited characters, the message was unclear.  NOW I get it, so thank you, Jan!

I worked in my yard a lot today, cleaned my truck inside and out (it looks like new) and then took poor ol' Gonzo for a quad ride to the river.  It was his first trip there, and he had a BLAST! He took to riding the quad very well, and unlike the Scoobster, took turns running and riding, and came back immediately when I called him.  (Scooby was simply GONE if he escaped the quad)  He got to see two beavers, and he wouldn't have even noticed them except the daddy beaver slapped his tail and brought attention to himself.  Gonzo ignored him though.  Then on the way home, we saw a deer in the canola field.  The deer and Gonzo stared at each other, but that was it.  This dog is truthfully the best dog I have ever welcomed into my home.  He has been a dream to train, a sweetheart to love and no matter what I ask of him, he complies.

Day off again tomorrow, and I'm thinking me and the boy might head to the river again, as it is supposed to be even hotter than today.

So glad to hear you're having a good time with Gonzo!  As much as we miss the lost ones, new 'kids' are always fun to welcome to the family.

And I just had to force myself to close the #DrHobbyLobby page for the night. I'm afraid I'm going to have to tweet him for advice on treating a #DrHobbyLobby addiction. Hmmm...maybe one more peek before bed. ;-)
