Back (wb...ty....)

Hot in NJ today.....stayed up and watched the end of the Yankees game last night, didn't get disco head while watching....and am feeling it today!  At least the Yanks won!

Fundraiser on Friday where we raise money for bullet proof vests for police officers and even the K9 officers....today's pic is me with the Mayor of the township....

We usually raise $30,000 in the night to purchase the vests.  While fortunately officers in my town are rarely shot at, the vests DO help officers if they're involved in traffic accidents.  One officer was hit by a car and dragged about 200 feet, and the only thing that really saved his life was his vest.  Vests now cost around $1100/vest.

Have a happy hump day!

You know what would be awesome? If our offensive line is better this year. McQuistan's gone, so that's a start.

It's raining today, and it's making me really sleepy.

Common misconception. I've lived here exactly 1 month to the day today, and this is only the 2nd time it's rained since I've been here (and in fact, the first time it rained was overnight...cleared up in the morning before I got up.) We actually get fewer days of rain per year, on average, than Rochester and Buffalo, NY, and even Pittsburgh, PA. In the summer, we don't get much at all.

1 - I'm so looking forward to this weekend. It's going to be the first weekend since we moved here that it's just me and the mister, he doesn't have to work, I don't have to work, we don't have to go anywhere, we don't have company...we're gonna get this house in order and have movie nights heart

2 - I love day games so much. Go Mariners!

3 - Sidney Rice is retiring. Boo...but rumor has it, he was a longshot to make the team this year anyway. His retirement puts the Hawks at 12 WR's right now.

4 - The Ducks are making some cray 1-yr deals this offseason.

5 - I didn't mean to type "cray" up there - it was a typo and I just left it. Go me.

6 - What should I make for dinner?

7 -

I made lemon pepper hot wings last night, they were delicious, I want more.

I also considered a 17,000 calorie salad... you know, the extra good kind. You can consider that, too.

tacos.

That's three votes for tacos (although one of those was for fry bread tacos...hmmmm...) I do like the 17,000 salad idea too. I've been craving salad.

What's a township? Uhm...like a settlement? I dunno. You're confusing me today. I might be drunk.

Are we doing Supernatural soon? Like in a couple of hours?

Q'rs Waterpark was/is great! Not to many people today was really nice just walking from slide to slide, climbing the stairs and sliding. Boys are getting more brave, there are only two slides they won't go down.
A township is a division of a county with corporate power. Does that help? Lived in one a few years ago. It's not quite a city due to the population. Everything is about the numbers. Anyhoo, Shrimp fettuccine, garlic bread and salad for dinner here. It's quick and easy.
Stay cool folks!

Township probably just refers to a small municipal government unit, kinda like a "baby city".  The laws governing local governments are set by the individual states, so I bet the rules/names vary by region.  (Look at Louisiana gettin' all crazy with their parishes.)  My little city where I live (and that I work for) used to be a village, but then wanted to be a city.  According to Texas law, a village can become a city, but will still always be a village too.  Therefore, whenever we have dealings at work with certain state agencies, we have to identify ourselves as the City of the Village of Jamaica Beach in order for them to find us in their records. Also per state law, when Jamaica Beach was a village, the head of the local law enforcement was the marshal, but once it became a city, he was called the police chief.

I've learned lots of neat, but fairly worthless, little civics lessons working for a small gov't office.  cheeky

howdy y'all

not much to report around here. brutally busy work week and of course we have a 10:30 hockey game tonight and will have a short bench. Thanks Dierks Bentley concert

Sad news today around Denver sports with Pat Bowlen officially stepping down from day to day operations with the Broncos. It's been the worst kept secret in town that he's been battling Alzheimer's the last few years, but it's evidently become pretty bad. He's been a huge part of the Broncos success year after year for the last 30 years and he's done a ton for the community.

oh, and the Rockies won a game today!!

Well...Western PA DOES get a lot of lake effect weather.  The college I went to was near Youngstown Ohio and about an hour south of Erie....I got to school freshman year on August 26, and it rained EVERY DAY until September 5....eleven days of rain.  In the winter, we got a LOT of snow...from October to April.  One year we didn't play our first baseball game until April 20 in Cleveland.....at 35 degrees.  Yeah....all that rain is depressing

nah, it's not. I like it...and honestly, I could have sworn it rained more in Key West than I've ever seen it rain here. Once a day, it seemed, and then it would go away. Just long enough to make it miserably humid about mid-late afternoon. Here, it's just little mist rain...and besides, it keeps things green and beautiful!

We've been inundated with seaweed this year. Happens every year, but this one is exceptionally bad.  The stuff is everywhere, and it stinks like...I'm not even sure...raw sewage or something. It started out innocent enough (see pretty sunset w/ small amt in foreground) and has just gone nuts. If you look at the bulldozer in the lower right, you get an idea how bad it is in some areas.  Pretty crazy, and pretty devastating to the local economy too.

It has made for some funny phone calls to city hall, though.  Some vacationers are obviously optimists, because they wanna let us know when they're going to be here so we can be sure to have the beach "clean" for them. We have about a 1/2 mile of beachfront, and it costs $2000 every time it's raked! Main problem is...it can be raked one morning, and be covered in seaweed after the next high tide. Raking seaweed is a bit like p*ssing in the wind.  It's really best to leave it to help replenish the beach and dunes.

you should offer "recipes" for the magical seaweed. All its healing, lost weight, build muscle, aphrodisiac, memory building, teeth cleaning, breath enhancer, joint helper powers. Give it a whole tab or change the musac and pipe it in while folks are holding, riding the elevator, etc etc etc

yes please, no more rain talk, clouds are converging and while i like the cool, no rain til november please
