New FanIQ Point System.
As most of may have seen, there is a new point system that FanIQ is now using. What are your thoughts on this new system and do you think that there should be any changes? Please comment below.

No opinion yet.  It did shock me this morning though.  When I checked yesterday, I had about 5400 points and this morning I had 150,000+.  I thought "D@MN.  I must have kicked a$$ in the Tourney bracket challenge!"

 I'm intrigued by it.  I like how it may encourage more participation as far as writing blogs, polls, trivia- all good things.  Like all "new" things it will take getting used to and you know the phrase about old dogs and new tricks

 I like it so far-- it gives someone an overall rating on FanIQ, which is kinda cool, and gives someone an easy way to compare themselves to others on the "Q"-- one person may kick butt in Poll points, but may not be so involved in the other areas of FanIQ, may compare favorably to someone that dabbles in all areas of FanIQ (like me) but dosen't have a huge score in any one area.

I didn't like it at first but it's either growing on me or i'm getting used to it.  I think I may have preferred to add a separate category for "fandom" that is not combined with IQ points.

Just read Ty's blog and click the links - it's very informative.

I love it; it'll encourage people to submit more quality content, rather than "quantity" just by getting lots of answers in their polls and boat loads of "T/F" trivia questions just for the awards.

Like Dave said, I like how it rates everyone based on everything they do on the site rather than just prediction points.

 

The only thing that I'm not too crazy about is the scoring system for IQ points (how points are earned are listed as "varied").  I like having an idea about how many points a prediction poll is really worth.  Because a poll with 8 questions is no longer worth 8 points (literally).

 

Unless there is something that I am missing.  Can anyone else tell how many points we will get on prediction polls?

 I like the fact that it takes into account every quality contrubution...but I don't like the large amount of points awarded.  Did you SEE how many pages of pt trophies there are for those still getting them for  every 100 pts?  It's hard to congratulate that many people!

Yeah, I got my 6,000 PT trophy around noon today and should have my 7,000 trophy later tonight.

 I had 8400 last night I think before the points system changed, and now I'm up to 9605, crazy!  Maybe we should change the FanIQ Club things to every 1,000 points up to 5,000, and then every 5,000 beyond that.

I don't understand something though.  On Saturday I scored about 1700-1800 points, plus I participated in several polls, played trivia, and was voted Top Comment in two different polls.  But, in the end, I LOST over 2000 points in my total score.  A friend scored about 2000 points for the day and gained almost 3000 in his total.  That doesn't make sense to me.

Ok after looking at some of my point increases in the last 2 days, this is  <---- (madness)!!!

 

I go from 4755 points on Wednesday to almost 6500 just playing NBA and NCAA pickems.

 

I'll take the points, but still

Yeah...I got a few thousand points too...once we get used to it, and the new awards are adjusted, I think it will get a lot better. Overall, I like the way it rewards quality contributions, and not just massive amounts of random activity.

Some of it is still borderline whether it is 'quality' or not though.

 

Getting points for a shoutout seems odd, but hey, I'm just a follower in Ty's world!

Unfortunately for many, season 1 isn't coming back...but fortunately for all of us, we are in the midst of making a lot of other changes, so while we may not introduce a "season 3" any time soon, season 2 will be improved to be a lot more user friendly, competitive, and fun for everyone :)

 i  am not well versed in the point system the Q uses? how and where do i find out how this works?.many things here stll confuse me and i still dont navigate the site well?..How do i get to footbal/nfl chats and such as well?  Thanks! and a special thanks to scott for being so patient with all my questions, and for his help!

 Oh and as for the current points system - you can find some of that in the FAQ (found under the "Help" link at the bottom of every page). However, there's a lot that's outdated. For example, the points you earn doing prediction polls don't really count for anything anymore, nor do the points you get for doing picks in Pick'Em (except for your favorite teams). Contributions; making polls, comments, trivia questions, etc. for your favorite teams will count toward your team rank. This will all be tweaked again in the near future as well; we like to encourage quality contributions to the site and when we implement a change we gauge the success (or lack) of the change to see what types of tweaks we need to make that make sense.

As for the football/NFL chats - Playbook now has something called Game Centers. When football starts up, you will be able to go to the game of your choice, click "Game Center" directly under the game, and that gets you into the chat for that game. We will make changes here in the future as well, to make it easier to jump from game to game; quite possibly before the NFL season starts.

i beat fan iq house and i didn't get any points it was Spain vs Holland and i bet them 4 times and that is 1000 because i bet 250q four times and i lost 1000q points because of that can u fix it it was Spain vs Holland world cup final and i picked Spain and they won can you fix this please. hop you can fix this

Hi Robert,
Regularly I would send a private message to you about this but since it's something others might learn from I decided to post it here. When you play the FanIQ House, you can only bet them one time on each game. How it works is:
- Let's say you create 7 bets on the same game, choosing the same team to win.
- Your chosen opponent doesn't accept any of them, and nobody picks them up in the Public Bets
- The FanIQ House will only pick up 1 of those bets; the other 6 are canceled and you should receive the stakes you laid on them back.

Or in this case, it looks like maybe you chose the suggested opponent and they didn't accept, but the bets were picked up in Public Bets. If you are absolutely sure you picked Spain against Holland and all the bets were picked up somewhere, please send the list of bets through the "Report a Bug" link found at the bottom of the page.
