Night Court?  Nearly number #1 for the comedy.  But Hunter gets the nod.  Where is DeDe McCall these days?

That's what I was thinking....I wouldn't actually call Night Court a police TV show.

I guess for me... i got all "cop show'd " out after the 70's. In 70's seemed like all you had was cop shows .... SWAT, The Rookies, baretta, Starskey & Hutch, mannix, police woman, streets of san francisco, McCleod, Hawaii 5-0, barnaby Jones, Charlie's Angels, Barney Miller, CHIPS, ... and I know I am missing many more... sheesh...  I watched 21 Jump Street and Hill Street Blues and Night Court occasionally. But the 70's was the "decade of the cop shows"
1. Hill Street Blues (1981 - 1987)  2. 21 Jump Street (1987 - 1991)  3. Moonlighting (1985 - 1989)  4. Miami Vice (1984 - 1990)  5. Night Court (1984 - 1992)  6. Matlock (1986 - 1995)  7. Magnum, P.I. (1980 - 1988)  8. Jake and the Fatman (1987 - 1992)  9. T.J. Hooker (1982 - 1986)  10. Murder, She Wrote (1984 - 1996)

majikman - I made a poll like this one for the 70s already...you're welcome to take it...
1. Magnum, P.I. (1980 - 1988)  2. Hill Street Blues (1981 - 1987)  3. Hunter (1984 - 1991)  4. Matlock (1986 - 1995)  5. Miami Vice (1984 - 1990)  6. 21 Jump Street (1987 - 1991)  7. T.J. Hooker (1982 - 1986)  8. Night Court (1984 - 1992)  9. Matt Houston (1982 - 1985)  10. Moonlighting (1985 - 1989)

Must have been a slow decade for cop shows.  I wouldn't exactly put Moonlighting,Murder she wrote,Night Court or Matlock in a traditional cop show genre.  Good and even some great shows among the four but not really cop shows.
1. Spenser: For Hire (1985 - 1988)  2. Cagney & Lacey (1982 - 1988)  3. Hunter (1984 - 1991)  4. Magnum, P.I. (1980 - 1988)  5. Matt Houston (1982 - 1985)  6. Miami Vice (1984 - 1990)  7. Remington Steele (1982 - 1987)  8. 21 Jump Street (1987 - 1991)  9. Hill Street Blues (1981 - 1987)  10. T.J. Hooker (1982 - 1986)

not criticizing the poll ... my point was in general...by the mid 80's they had overused about every conceivable cop story between 70's and early 80's. When Hill Street Blues finally went off the air ... would be years before NYPD Blue brought back that kind of show

1. Hill Street Blues (1981 - 1987)  2. 21 Jump Street (1987 - 1991)  3. Moonlighting (1985 - 1989)  4. Miami Vice (1984 - 1990)  5. Night Court (1984 - 1992)  6. Matlock (1986 - 1995)  7. Magnum, P.I. (1980 - 1988)  8. Jake and the Fatman (1987 - 1992)  9. T.J. Hooker (1982 - 1986)  10. Murder, She Wrote (1984 - 1996)

The list I got them from had them listed as police dramas...I think Moonlighting, Murder, She Wrote, and Matlock were more detective/lawyer shows so that is why they included them in with the police dramas.

Yea that was a good show too.  I was going to add that one, but since it was from 1988-1994, I thought I would save it for my 90s Favorite Police TV Show (But I never got around to it...)

How am I suppose to pick 10 of these shows when I think I only watched 1 or 2?
I was never home long enough to watch TV back then!
