I didn't have an accident, but my friend blew half of a finger off, and ended up with a very mangled thumb at the same time. He lit a M-80 and a car shined it's lights in his eyes, he didn't see the whick, someone yelled to throw it and he cocked back behind his head. It went off behind his head and left shrapnel in his head also.

We called him "nub" all through high school, it was pretty funny.....lol

I think they have banned fireworks in our area because of the drought conditions. I guess we will watch them on TV with a couple adult beverages and an assortment of grilled meats.

Fireworks very often have a very negative affect on me; we'll have dinner with family then I'll take my meds and try to get to bed early. Funny thing, tonight I listened to a very popular country group(name escapes me) with a video presentatio of their song "8/11" about an early battle in Vietnam. All the while it was on fireworks were booming from a local communites celebration...it was neat but, well....... The video is very good, if you get the chance I hope you see it, with or without fireworks!

My original name on here (Bscm80)came about because when I was attending BSC(Bridgewater State College), I was kicked out of the dorms for throwing M80's down the hallways. It certainly wasn't an accident, but it's close enough. As for the other questions, I already got to watch some fireworks with some friends last night from our balcony, and I definitely hadd more than 6 beers last night, and plan to duplicate that feat at least once more this weekend.

I remember M80's well as a kid... Blowing coffee cans 30 feet high. Ahhh.. now I know where your original name came from... Aren't M80's illegal now?

Fortunately, never had a major accident even though we played around with fireworks all the time.

They were illegal at the time in the state of Massachusetts. I would have gotten arrested, if there was concrete proof that it was me. The heresay was enough to get me kicked out of the dorms, but not quite enough to blemish my otherwise flawless legal record.

Taking a ferry from Oakland to San Francisco, then going to Alcatraz Island. We'll watch fireworks from the pier. No grilling out, unfortunately, but it'll still be fun!

As a kid we always had fireworks around the 4th of July. My father would always buy them in Missouri because they were illegal to sell in our state.
The only accident I 've had is once a roman candle blew up in my hand. It was my fault because I didn't stick it in the glass bottle like I should have I just held it in my hand. I now have a burn scar on my left hand from it.

No accidents on my end ... but ironically, the block north of me here in Chicago put on a little fireworks display this evening which I conveniently watched from my deck ... but turns out it hasn't gone so well as a couple ambulances just arrived. I think I might be that nosy neighbor and go down and check it out.

Happy 4th everyone.
