Last series of the season. Looking forward to seeing Carlos Gonzalez and Albert Pujols go head to head this weekend

Both teams are now eliminated. I was looking forward to this series, but not any more.

Colorado seems more demoralized at the moment since the Dodgers swept them at home.

A good chance for the Cards to get Westbook to an even record.

Cards for a strong finish.

A couple of weeks ago, this looked like it could have been a huge series for the Rockies... well, not now - this game really has no impact on anything other than maybe the Rockies wanting to "deaden" Hammels arm even more... a meaningless game - not sure why they want to risk injury with that guy???

And just who did they lose for being too cheap? Matt Holliday?

Who would you rather have, Albert Pujols or top notch pitcher like Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay or CC Sabathia? These are the St. Louis Cardinals and despite what you might think, they dont have the type of cash like the Yankees do to go out and buy everybody available. As for Greinke, the Royals wanted 3 high level prospects. Would you have traded Brett Wallace, Colby Rasmus and Jaime Garcia for Greinke? I dont think so. As for Ludwick, he is due to make around $10 million next year. Wouldnt that money be better served to shore up your middle infield or maybe resign Jake Westbrook for next year?

Westbrook isnt under contract for next year. He'd like to come back to the Cardinals though and according to the radio, the Cardinals have had some discussions with this agent. As for Cliff Lee, no way in hell the Cardinals sign him. If they do, you can kiss Pujols goodbye as a Cardinal. There isnt enough money to sign Lee and Pujols on top of the contract you have on Holliday. Kyle Lohse will be back regardless because of the money the Cardinals have invested in him. You cant just dump that contract. Rasmus certainly has a beef with how he's been handled by LaRussa but no way you give up the best centerfielder #'s wise in the NL.
