If the Cards play as well as they should, it won't be close.  But we wtached the boys in red underachieve all of December.  if Earl steps up and Samardo holds onto the ball and hits his layups...  UK is in trouble.

I would heckle you Louisville fans about that loss to UNLV..... but I do realize we play you guys Sunday, and Ricky P. won't be in a very good mood.  This game will be close compared to last year, we will need to play a near perfect game to win.  I am looking forward to this game, to see where UK is against a top 25 team.

The rough Dec is over and Jan is here.  Time for Patino to start tapering off.  The kittens are in town and the worst thing for them is being our first game in Jan.  Especially after the loss to UNLV.  Cards are going to come out ready to play hard.  I think since the kittens does not have a legit point guard they are going to have a rough time against the press and the pressure is going to get to them.  GO CARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is that was a sloppy, sloppy game.   Neither team looked like they wanted to win, of course that is more of just good defense out of both clubs.  The young cats grew up quite a bit in this game, and Pitino learned that his ball club has a long way to go if they want to make a deep run into March.  Enjoy it Louisville fans, its the last win against us you will have for a couple years.

As I said in a previous post I made on here, I wanted a competitive game and that is what transpired...so I can't complain about that.  I also said that if my Wildcats were to win that game, they needed to keep the turnovers down, which didn't happen.  They had like 21 or something.  That is the thing that has plagued the Wildcats all year.  Louisville was lucky to come away with the win...especially after Earl Clark's blunder on the in-bounds pass.  What kept the Wildcats in the game was second chance points and offensive rebounding because had it not been for Perry Stevenson and Patrick Patterson, this game would have not been in reach.  I think the Cats and the Cards need to work on limiting turnovers because it hurt both teams.  But I think people got to see two great superstars in Terrence Williams and Patrick Patterson on National Televison.  These 2 guys are ones people need to keep an eye on this year in college basketball!

Louisville won't beat UK next year.....maybe for the next couple.  Gillispie will be getting more and more talent like Pitino used to pick up while in Lexington, and to be honest Rick was out coached by Billy yesterday.  Kentucky had no business being in that game with 21 turnovers, but they kept letting us back in.  U of L won't come into Rupp next season and win.  I can't wait... the talent will be more equaled out barring injuries etc.   and this rivalry will once again be one of the best in sports.....not just college basketball.  I just hope both coaches stay at their schools for at least 10 more years because of the entertainment value.

Outcoached?  Um, not really.  It comes to the players on the court to execute, and UofL had enough lapses (especially at the end, obviously) for UK to stay in the game.  And just because T-Will's leaving doesn't mean you're done having to deal with the North Coast talent, as Peyton Siva is going to be able to come in and be an impact player right away, and if this is the game that got Sosa back on track, may lord have mercy on UofL's opponents, because they won't.  Not to mention you're going to lose Patterson most likely (he woulda left last year if not for the injury), and possibly Meeks... I wouldn't be so smug just yet.

Was this a great game by UofL?  No.  Was it a horrible game?  No.  Did UK play a good game?  Despite 20 turnovers, yes (and UofL wasn't far behind, so that moots that argument).  Though I will say if Gillespie wants to stay at UK, he's gonna have to figure out how to beat the Big South & Atlantic Sun teams.  Early season or not, those are losses that are so bad they knock you down at least one seed in the Madness.

You are out of your mind if you think that UK is going to be better than UofL anytime in the near future.  Pitino is continuing to bring in supoer-talented kids and UK only has two players on their team that can score...  I think that you should prepare your Cats to become "little brother"

Apparently you two are overlooking the recruiting that Billy Gillispie has been doing over in Lexington.  John Hood, Daniel Orton and G.J. Vilarino are on the way next season.  Orton is rated as one of the top big men in the country.  I would say that right now the odds of Patterson returning next season would be 60/40, naturally that could change and understandably so.  Meeks will more then likely be back as well, the talent level for college basketball players going pro this year should bury him deep into the second round, if he is lucky.    Furthermore, UK will never be "little brother" in the state of Kentucky, unless of course your speaking of our football program.  As a side not, this is not a slight to Pitino, but he hasn't been the same coach since he lost his brother in law or good friend (can't remember which) in the WTC Attack of September 11th.  His priorties (rightfully so) have shifted somewhat.  Is he still a great coach... you bet!  His teams just don't play with the discipline or intensity that was once a staple of all of his teams.  Having said all of that, Louisville fans don't have anything in the near future to worry about when it comes to missing the big dance... most years they should expect nothing less than a sweet 16 appearance.
Having said all of this, don't take this as a slight to the U of L or Pitino, I respect their program and am passionate about their coach.  I just feel that UK will be back in the dominant role they are accustomed to, and this is good for the best rivalry in college basketball.

For the class of 2008, Louisville was ranked in the top ten.  In the top 100 players in the class of 2009, Louisville has three players and UK has two.  For the class of 2010, Louisville already has three top 100 players, and UK only has one.

Since 9/11, Pitino has taken the Cardinals to the Final Four and the Great Eight.  Maybe his priorities changed, but he's still a better coach that most in the NCAA.

I'm not saying he is a horrible coach, I just said his intensity is not what it once was.   Again, there won't be futile years in Louisville as long as Rick is there, that is just matter of fact, but the one sided games of the last 10 years or so, regardless of the winner.......those days are done, starting next season.  I still have yet to see a Louisville team the last 2 years play up to their potential and talent level.  UK is on the right track, and by the time the game comes around next season... it will or should be a barn burner  barring any major setbacks at either school.   College basketball is a better game when these two teams are at the top and playing each other.

This perception of Pitino is garbage.  When he was at UK he was the coach of the future using the press and the three leading up to his success at UK.  Well times has changed and the game has changed.  Also with the times changing, high school players are changing, and attitudes are changing.  The main problems Pitino has had over the years has been recruits willing to work in his system.  There has been a number of recruits that cant handle the work or the pressure.  Players like Hurt, Daniels, Miller, Character and B Johnson are to name just a few that have transfer or were kicked off.  Just last year in the NCAA Tournament there were two teams in the tournament that had X Louisville players on their teams playing.  Pitino is much older and much wiser.  After watching that game I do not see how he was outcoached.  People are talking about how UK had 21 turnovers and only lost by three.  We had 15 turnovers in that game.  Only a six difference.  But what about the battle of the boards.  UK won that battle 29 - 22 and Louisville still won.  You can pick out just one stat and make any argument you want.

As far as recruiting.  I have seen UK's classes coming in.  Rivals ranks your class as 13th and Cardinasl at 15th for 2009.  Also for the 2010 class rivals only showed the top 10 as it stands now.  The Cardinals are ranked 4th for 2010 and UK didnt make the top 10.  So if your going by recruiting that is not going to win the debate.

The only thing that can determine an actual argument for a win next year depends on who leaves which school.  Right now the cards are losing Scott, McGhee, and T Will.  Earl Clark will probably go pro next as well.  Loosing both Earl Clark and T Will hurts.  We still have enough talent on the team and coming in to still be a good team next year.  If Earl Clark stays for what ever reason, we still will be a very very tough team to play.  But what if Patterson and Meeks both leave UK.  I dont think UK could recover next year loosing both even with the incoming recruiting class.  Loosing just one hurts UK.  If they both stay then you might have some ground to talk trash right now but you really wont know that until after the season.
