Steelers have seen this type of team before. They won't be able to run the ball and by the second half the Steelers D will be forcing turnovers from Warner. If he's still in the game.

Question #11 - Are you asking how many receptions by Steelers that play the "reciever" position? Or... Are you asking how many receptions by Steelers players, no matter what position they play?

Cardinals will win, by this reason alone.  Fitzgerald makes it very hard for the defense to cover him primarily because he is playing at the top of his game, and by him catching the football with his hands in transition on the run without jumping in the air to receive it into his body, is a vital weapon to for Warner to have.  Not solid, hits and no easy tackles.  I say that the defense will have a long day with him, now that the running game is clicking.  35-28 Cardinals.

The Arizona Cardinals will be World Champions. Reason #1 Their offense will bring gadget plays to keep the Steelers defense off balance. Reason #2 Play action will keep Harrison and the other lb's sucked in, which will give Fitzgerald 1on1 with Polamalu MISSMATCH. Reason #3 Their defense will blitz Ben so much he wont have time to throw the ball. Arizona's defense is faster than the Ravens D. 26-21 Cardinals Rack It, Done Deal

You know, I heard this same rhetoric from some Eagles fans about the Philly defense and the running game of the Cards and about Warner throwing INT's and being out of the game, all I can say at this point is dont run to the bank just yet bud, you don't have homefield advantage in this game and you severely under estimate the physical capabilites of the running backs for the Cards and Mr Warner himself, he is a seasoned veteran on top of his game not to mention and I will say it again and again "Throwing to one of if not THE BEST receiving corpes in the NFL today", and if you disagree with that prove me wrong. James is proving that he still has some pop in his game and Hightower is being played at the right time and J.J. Arrington always makes the best of his opportunties since he does not get many of them.

I cannot take anything away from the Steelers and we all know that they obviously have earned the right to be were they are.

You must have forgotten that Ken Whisenhunt knows the Steelers since he was up for the head coaching job of the Steelers and was their Offensive Coordinator for the last 3 years and the receiving coach for the 3 years before that, so despite what might be said he may not know all the plays the Steelers may have but he for sure knows what to look for and any similarities to  the plays he used as the Offensive Coordinator and keep in mind that he too helped in his first year as the Coordinator take a team who was ranked in the bottom of the NFL to 16th overall and from 31st in rushing to 2nd and in his second year helped clinch them a NFL Championship and finish out his tenur with the Steelers with an offense ranked 7th overall in the NFL.

OH and wait, what year is this as him being the HEAD COACh of the Cardinals (#2). Lets just say this and save all the bantering, its going to be a good game if both teams and coaches play and coach as they can and should.

Peace.

Bottom line...this just seems to be Kurt Warner's year.   Those wr's and the running game doesn't hurt either but he doesn't seem to be making mistakes in key situations in the passing game.   If he has the ball with 3 of less to play, cardinals take home the trophy.

Cardinals all the way baby

What has really surprised me is how the steelers are favor 60% to 40% seems the cards are finally getting the respect they deserve........

I was completely dumbfounded how the eagles were favored 80 to 20 but the cards are better off against those steelers LOL sad sad tale, does this mean that the Eagles are better than those steelers............

No they are just the next team that the Cardinals will beat......

Right, But you forget, we already know all the gadget plays that Whisenhunt has. We have the play book he created, when he did it in PITTSBURGH. And his WR coach and TE coach are still here.

And every team says they are fast enough to get to Ben. The key is not getting there its getting him to the ground. Good luck with that.

Well you did an awful lot of bantering there. And in case you forgot, this site is where we are supposed to banter.

No doubt that the former Steelers coach vs the Steelers in the top story line. It will be interesting in how it plays out.

I still like this analysis that I saw on another thread:

very good offense vs #1 Defense. Steelers advantage

average offense vs average defense. Push

Looks like a Steelers win to me.

It's a basic prediction poll. Nothing favoring either team.

Maybe you just HATE this thread because the Steelers are going to the Super Bowl. Deal with it. The Eagles didn't make it AND you're keeping your QB and Coach. Enjoy your offseason.

I think this is the same comment I posted when I picked the Cards to win the Wild Card game, the divisional playoff game, and the NFC Championship game.   "YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST"

Go back and look it up Poncho, just wanting a little credit where a lot of credit is due.

The winners are the NFL fans and the quality people who are participating - Kurt Warner, about as decent of a human being that there is, and the Steelers organization who run their team the right way and have been rewarded with many championships and consistent high levels of performance.  I look forward to feeling good about whomever wins - I am a fan of both sides.

You being a Steelers Fan would like any analysis on any thread that would favor the Steelers, is that better ?

Sorry, must have been PUI. But it makes more sense now. You are a bitter Seahawks fan who won't acknowledge the winner of XL.

Its ok, I will happily post next year if your Hawks make it. And I post on interesting threads. And yes, as a Steelers fan, I find the Steelers making their 7th Super Bowl and having the chance to be the first franchise to 6 wins VERY interesting.

I will not deny that I am a BITTER Seahawks fan. My bitterness has nothing to do with fact the Steelers won but with the way the game was officiated which in many peoples opinion including some of the analysists was very shabbly refereed and did have some bearing on the outcome of the game.

I agree that it would be a great feat for any team including the Steelers to be the first franchise to win 6 SB's. Just to make it clear I have never said they were not a good or even Great team and being the 6th oldest franchise in NFL have had their chances to prove so. More power to you and your team if you are able to pull out the victory and make NFL History but that will not make me jump on the Steeler Fan Band Wagon.

Peace.

Yes, because Cardinals history is so rich compared to the Chiefs (it is I before E in this case)...don't look into one year so much, every team has ups and downs.

You could actually with this 1 great postseason run that the Cardinals ARE a more sucessful team than the Chiefs over the past 2 decades. don't throw divison champions at me show me Championships. last I looked Cardinals 1 KC 0

Yea but the Cardinals really have been very bad over the years and the worst thing about this organization is it always had tons of talent, you know what finally put this team over the hump was new stadium it brought fans and finally the Cards had a home field advantage as before the new stadium half the fans in Sun devil stadium were for the visitor. noe they visiting team cannot get tix so easy as we have more season tix holders and the younger fans are starting to realize that Arizona has a football team in its state. and when the fans show up it it jacks up the players and they play better, plus it makes free agents actually want to come to play for Cardinals when you have a new stadium with top notch facilities, ie weight room, locker rooms top notch, ect. didn't mean for this to be so long sorry.

No problem bro, you ramble on. You have alot be proud of this year and since you all are in the same division as my Hawks i have ben following the building of a very good team over the past 3 years, they were not a shabby team last year and with Ken coaching them it was what they needed to get them over the hump and anyone who says they are a fluke can kiss my SEACHICKEN ASS. They are there and your team is not.

You know something even though they made playoffs this year, before the playoffs started I had said they were better last yr, they just got to learn how to win the close games, they learned how to win the close games this year, but they didn't learn how to come out and be ready EVERY WEEK FOR A GAME thats why they got blown out so many times, and I really put that on coaching staff. evryone can say this about their fav. team BUT take away Jetsgame, Pats game, and vikes games, they have a top 5-7 defense.

Steelers have seen this type of team before. They won't be able to run the ball and by the second half the Steelers D will be forcing turnovers from Warner. If he's still in the game.
Just a post game footnote. Guess I was wrong. The Steelers D was not forcing turnovers from Kurt Warner by the second half, they forced turnovers in the FIRST half, and got 7 points from it.

Still a great game. Only the Safety ruined my perfect score. Shucks

You know this year the Superbowl reminds me of last year when everyone expected the Pats to win, what happened those lowly guys in NY beat em...............

Sounds like a repeat of history even wearing their dumbfounded white jersey's........... I suppose they need to wear those for all the luck they will be needing
Hmmm, guess your premonitions were a little off. The game was similar, but in this case, Warner played the part of the overhyped QB who did not lead a SB-winning touchdown drive (In Brady's case for the 4th SB appearance in a row) and Big Ben played the part of the underrated, oft-maligned QB who just seemed to win games and DID lead the SB-winning touchdown drive with less than 3 min left on the most pressure-packed stage in all of sports.

Guess history did repeat itself in a sense...just not your version of history

Trivia question:  This is only the 3rd Super Bowl where both teams are from the pre-expansion era (they existed before 1960).  Can anybody guess what the other two Super Bowl matchups were?
The other two times were the Steelers vs. Rams in 1980, and the Colts vs. Bears in 2007. All the other Super Bowls featured at least one team that started in 1960 or after.

I guess the Ravens/Giants SB of 2000 technically doesn't count even though they were the original Browns?

I read it somewhere. I guess since the Browns were already back in the league with the previous history intact, the Ravens were considered an expansion team.

Yeah they were.  Even when the team moved to Baltimore they were treated as an expansion team.  the records were all kept intact in Cleveland because the league promised Cleveland they'd get their team back.  IMO that should still count as a matchup like the 2 you named, but I don't make the rules even though I think that's stupid.  They didn't do it with the Colts for the 11 years Baltimore was without a team, but whatever.
