So I was thinking the other day about fans of college teams... and if you can be a fan, even if its not your "Alma Mater".

So how about you, are you a fan of any college team? and if so, is it your Mater or a local school?

I did take some classes from there, so I suppose I have "ownership" to be allowed to root for them now ;) With Gonzaga, it was just a local school. When I was in high school my friends and I always went to their basketball games, and then one of my friends went to school there...that gave me even more reason to root for them. I think it's ok to root for a local school, or a school that you knew someone who went there. Heck, even if it's a school across the country but you've been drawn to it for some reason I think it's ok. I'm not big on bandwagon fans; they annoy me, but I say root for whoever you want. I like Penn State because it was the big school close to where I grew up, and a lot of my friends went there for school. However, I never even liked college sports until I was a college student. Likke both college and pro, but lean towards college in football and basketball, the pros for baseball. 4. #49 \| 291 days ago kramer (+)	Seeing I'm a fan of every other Pittsburgh team, you can probably guess which college team I root for. It's amazing to see how well the Panthers are doing. They're obviously not going to win them all, and just suffered their first loss of the year to Louisville, but beating Georgetown by 16 and Syracuse by 18?! Now if they can just learn how to make foul shots, they're a Final Four team this year, that's how good they are.

#50 \| 291 days ago kteacher (+)	After the Rams left for St. Louis, my friend started at USC. I would go to the games with him. Later on, my two nephews would attend and more games followed. I loved football, there is no team in Los Angeles, and the Rams are rarely shown out here. Besides the last several years USC played like a pro team. As far as attending USC-------------I was going to be a teacher, therefore, why would I pay 10x more to go to USC when I could go to a state school for less. Easy decision on my part. 1. I grew up in Jersey, where the only real school to root for sportswise is Rutgers. They were so horrible while I was growing up, they were hardly ever on TV. All u ever saw were the bigger name schools. And when I was a kid, I was in love w/ Wolverine, and I also had a thing for wolves. I didn't know that a wolverine was actually diff from a wolf, then. Years passed, and I stuck w/ them. I do pull for local schools though, both from back home, and in my new adopted home as well.
