an old closer, way past his prime

an old catcher, who is way past his prime, but can't stay healthy enough to play that much to show how past his prime he is (and his backups can't hit their way out of a wet sack)

four outfielders to fill three spots, none of whom can play outfield very well (although Damon is crushing the ball - and in his contract year, how surprising)

a rotation with three gaping holes, the two spots that are filled are filled by the aforementioned CC McFatty and AJ "brittle-as-dried-paper-mache" Burnett.  I am taking bets on who gets hurt first.

a third baseman hitting nothing but home runs - who has admitted to using steroids (and I'm sure he quit, right?)

oh yeah, and a new monstrosity of a stadium that plays half pinball machine, half super-collider.

all that for $200 million (not including $1.8 billion for the new stadium)

before you start pointing your 'pathetic' finger at people (spelling counts), maybe you should take a good hard look at your own team.  You beat the Twins (impressive) and the Orioles (not so much).  Your Yankees, a team that got spanked by the Phillies, in that league you spoke so lowly of.  Your Yankees, a team, by the way, a game and a half out of first, the exact same place as the Mets who have so clearly stated are so awful, they should disband. 

The Mets will be playing serious October baseball this year and the Yankees will be right where they are now - in third place and at home.

Yes, that's how they measure greatness in baseball - most heart and home runs.  That makes Pete Rose and Barry Bonds the best players that ever lived!

You need to work on your arguments (and your spelling) if you ever ever want to discuss baseball outside of the half-way house.  Perhaps the others in group can assist you in finding a dictionary and a baseball encyclopedia.  Until then, enjoy your third place team of over-the-hill, overrated, and overpaid mercenaries. 

For now, I will enjoy my flawed bunch of chokers, but at least the Mets have something the Yankees will never have: fans with class, brains and dignity.

The Real Difference is Yankee Fans can care less about the Mets and the Mets care about the Yankees they try to be the Yankees but they are nothing but an ugly step cousin we are beyond the Mets its not funny we won Total World Series Titles — 26,  Pennants (39), East Division titles (15) Hall of Famers on Hall of Famers 19 of those  you dont and Ruth is better then Bonds he will always be the best ever like Micheal Jordan will always be the best in basketball they put there sports on the map call me a front runner. Front runners leave there teams in a down cycle im still with all three of my teams  we have the best owners in baseball willing to spend what it takes to win you would not  even get manny your owners are so cheap they are dumb now your team is a joke even with our injurys we were better then your team complete Jeter know how to be a leader your team can't even find yourself.

Mets Have 26 Home Runs lol laughable 203 Runs,  406 hits slg..415  you have a better Short Stop but ours is smarter you have a better Center Fielder and the Best Pitcher in base ball  we have though he hurt a better catcher then what you have the best closer in baseball our farm system is better then yours our third basemen is the best player in baseball if not second in baseball Albert might be better but Arod has number Albert will never touch. Our First Basemen is better then the one you don't have him and Arod will tear up the summer with home runs unlike yours who will not even play alot of the summer

You learned how to cut and paste - that's excellent progress...now learn to think for yourself.  Of course, if you did that, you wouldn't be a Yankees fan in the first place.  Plus, bringing up the Mets history is fruitless, since I can quote it verbatim and I know it is hardly impressive.  But being a Yankees fan is basically like supporting Hitler in 1930's Germany - anyone with a soul or half a brain sees right though the evil.  But that's Yankees fans for you, like I pointed out before - thinking is not your strong suit.

Everyone in my Family are Yankee Fans I been a Yankee fan since the 80's when they were not winning show you don't know allot about nothing show you don't know anything about basketball even pros say Jordan the best basketball player ever and I didn't cut and past I can write if I want to but this isn't English class so why would I care shows your know nothing about sport and Mickey Mouse  "Met" should say anything about Super Man calling Yankees and fans alike  fans Nazi' s that must make the  MET KKK little group that knows nothing about nothing dumb

The argument that Jordan is the best player is a valid one (and a fun one), that he is hands down the best ever is just a foolish thing to say.  I'll take Bill Russell ten times out of ten over Jordan and win five more rings with him.  I'd take Kareem over Jordan and win more MVPs.  I don't care about other people's opinions, I care about how you argue your own position and you do it as weakly as a six-year-old girl with the swine flu. 

And I didn't say that Yankee fans were Nazi's, I said they don't think for themselves and used 1930's Germany as an example...  Obviously, they don't have very good reading comprehension either.

That the Mets didn't sign Manny shows a lot more smarts than signing a borderline obese pitcher to a seven year deal, and a habitually injured one to a five year one - which was the point of my original statement (and the highest rated comment on this thread, by the way).

There are lots of books out there on it, and if you got past third grade in school, they might have taught you properly back then.

 If CC and Burnett but more important the middle relief holds up we'll be more than ok.. We scored our 500 run already with a project of 1100. With that type of offense we'll be fine.. The Sox rotation goes almost 7 deep so we'll have to keep up...
