the Cubs will probably go as far as the bullpen will take them and right now that doesn't look too good

The Cubs look good enough to make the playoffs. Most years that would leave Cub fans happy, but they are getting impatient. Red/Sox/White Sox championships, almost wining the pennant a few year's back, and last year's sputtering finish have ended the "wait 'til next year" mentality. Cub fans want to win NOW! MomsOnaCarousel gave one reason why they might not make it. Milton Bradley hasn't given us too much to get excited about (it's early, I know.). A great poll would be, "Are the Cubs a better team than they were last year?" If last year proves anything, getting to the playoffs is one thing; winning the playoffs is an entirely different thing.

The Cubs just look out of sync this first half of the season. Too many individuals trying to do too much instead of just relaxing and playing ball as a team. It hasn't helped with all the injuries and untimely hitting so far.  But they still keep hanging around the weak National League Central race. If they can stay healthy and get the bats going the second half of the season it could be interesting.. Go Cubbies !!

 No, No & No.

Barring a miracle, I don't see THIS team making the playoffs this year.

If they do, I really don't see them making it to the WS or even winning it.

Too much inconsistency and injuries......but, anything is possible.

You have a point. But you gotta admit that Cardinal and Cincinnati red match the color of my eyes!

To be fair, I have pulled for the Cubs a few times. They were playing against a team I needed to lose to help the Cardinals, but still...

Well the poll is still here. And, sorry Glenda, and all you Cubs fans... They're not doing it in 2010 either. St. Louis will win the division again-- I'm not betting against any team with Pujols and Holliday in the middle of the lineup, and Carpenter and Wainwright on the mound. They won't win the wild card, either, because both the East and West will be stronger divisions and the WC team will come out of one of them.

But hey, every day is a party at Wrigley.

I'm a big Cubbies fan but man are the Cardinals goign to be tough again this year. I do think the Cubs could possibly sneak in via wild card but not sure they can win the division. I do think that the  NL Central is a 2 horse race this year tho. We'll see I guess. Go Cubs!

We will see who will be sorry this year, it will not be the Chicago Cubs. They will at least win the National League Pennant as they will sustain no injuries, have shored up their hitting behind a new hitting coach in Rudy Jamarillo and bested their pitching due to off season conditioning and all this after having become a 2009 cancer survivor. Put it on the board.

Yep, right there are THE 2 main reasons that there is nothing left of last seasons team.
1: being owned by people who actually WANTS to own the Cubs.
2: Getting rid of an infectious player. players showing up for sprig training in better shape than during last years season.
Players wanting tp prove that last season is over. And you know we were in 2nd last year with all the bad. So this year it is 1st.

Sorriano is not the whole team, if he is not playing well, the Cubs can play Tyler Colvin or Xaviar Nady in his place. Surprisingly Sorriano played well last night going 2 for 4 with double and committed no errors. The Cubs lost though, they have other problems that need mending. Not sticking up for Sorriano though, I'm one of his greatest critics.

The cornerstones of the Cubs, D.Lee and A.Ramirez are having the worst season of thier careers right now. They couldn't hit a beach ball. Who would have thought that Marlon Byrd would be thier offensive leader at this point in the season.
If Lee and Ramirez ever start heating up, along with Byrd, Soriano and Soto, they should be able to overcome the bullpen problems by outscoring the opposition most the time. They have the potential, and noone is running away with the NL Central at this point. Once that offense comes alive, anything can happen, and I'm hoping for a big winning streak and a pennant...if not, this new hitting coach they have might have to answer a few questions.

Ramirez in now on the DL. If McGwire can be the hitting coach for the Cardinals, all Sammy has to do is admit to steroids and get hired to be the coach of the Cubs! LOL

Well this Rudy Jamarillo that they aquired as hitting coach from Texas is suppose to be really good, but I expected more than what I've seen so far..the Cubs just scored 4 or more runs in back-to-back games for the first time in 2 weeks heh, so maybe it's turning around.
Aquiring Sammy Sosa as hitting coach would be fun to see :D. The Cub fans still love him, and your right, if Mark McGwire can do it, why couldn't he?..." Just admit to it Sammy,we know you used! " LOL

Hitting coach is only as good as the talent he's working with. Rudy has no talent to work with! LOL

It is mostly up to the players to perform , I do believe that, but I also still believe there is alot of talent there. I just have no other explanation why they are not performing, and obviously the Cubs don't either since he's the third hitting coach they had within the past three seasons.
Anyways, they have bad pitching, bad defense also as of late, and they just seem to keep finding other ways to lose even when they do hit.
I realize it's only June and theres still alot of baseball left. I just don't wanna have to say " Wait until next year " again LOL
