Was it a good idea for the Atlanta Braves to release Tom Glavine?
I know this isnt a big deal but I was up set when the Braves release Tom Glavine. He a 5 time Cy young winner & the 5th left-handed pitcher to win 300 games! I believe that Glavin could have help out on there two prospects pitchers in Tommy Hanson & Kris Medlen. I just think it wasnt right.

Scott hit the nail on the head.  If this was any other pitcher not named Glavine, Maddux, or Smoltz, it would be a great move all the way around.  But Glavine deserved better treatment than this.  It's not like he saw this coming.  He has made 3 rehab starts and pitched 6 scoreless innings in his last one.  He came to Atlanta on Wednesday expecting to be on the mound by this weekend.

When Cox called him in his office, Glavine thought they were going to discuss if he was pitching this weekend or waiting until next week.  What a shot in the gut.

From what I've read, Cox was fighting back tears when he talked about it.  I don't think he was too happy about this sudden decision either.

Financially speaking, yes it was a good move because the Braves save up to 4 million dollars  However, I think Glavine probably deserved a much better fate from an organization that he helped win many division titles in the 90's and early 2000's.

Bucky's Badgers (+)

Glavine got the raw end of the "business" side of baseball.  I have to wonder if Schuerholz had a hand in this at all, because this doesn't have a JS feel to it.  I know they saved (potentially) 4 MIL, but that is just soooooo wrong!
