As a diehard Steeler fan even I can't say he is the best.  I would say top 5.

#9 | 143 days ago

I am also a die hard Steeler fan, but I don't think he is the best.  He stil has a lot of years left in him and he has the potential.  I think he has a long way to go before he can be declared the best.  Playing for a great team helps, but he's not there yet....not yet.
#10 | 143 days ago

He has talent I'll give you that, but how do you truly judge him as the best?

he's in the conversation because he has the hardware .. i cant say no but i wont say yes ... its like comparing Dan Marino to Steve Young  marino had the numbers but Young has the titles.....

#13 | 143 days ago

I think its hard to tell because of the quality of the Steeler's offensive line. Though he probably isn't, he does excel in certain areas such as avoiding the sack and not getting his pass batted down at the line.

Easily top 10. Top 5? Quite possibly? Best? Not by a long shot.
no
#15 | 142 days ago

Not THE Best, but most definitely in the Top 10- or even Top 5!   Sure he plays on a GREAT team with a vicious defense, but that doesn't make him any less of a QB. He is big, strong, athletic, and very accurate- he has also led his team to 2 Superbowl Wins in the past 4 seasons- not bad! You also have to take into consideration that his Offensive Line has been HORRIBLE these past two seasons and the Steelers STILL won the Superbowl.

He's the best QB in the Steelers depth chart.

He has won more Super Bowls the Brett Favre.

Better than Peyton Manning? No way
Peyton Manning - 1 ring 7-8 in the playoffs
Ben Roethlisberger- 2 ringS and 8-2 in the playoffs.
In their only head to head match up in the playoffs Ben won.
Ben won 13 games (consecutively) his rookie year and his first playoff game, Peyton lost 13 games his rookie year. He also did not win his first playoff game until his 6th season in the NFL.
The NFL is not about stats, ask Dan Marino.
I could list all the QBs in the NFL or that have recently retired, that are statistically better than Ben but in the NFL, rings matter.
I would say that Tom Brady is hands down the best active QB in the NFL.

I'ts not Ben at all it's the team around him. He is less mobile than Frankenstein, not to mention the resemblance. Send him to Cleveland or Oakland and see how many rings he gets.

ha I agree. Ben is definitely mobile. I remember when we played the Colts in the playoffs, haha our HUGE Casey Hampton almost caught up to Peytons slow ass. ha   I would say Tom Brady is the best, as much as i dislike him and his team. I would think that Ben would be in the top 5 though.

Crazy. As much as I like Brees (watched him play at Purdue), there is no way I would put him in front Ben.

Switch Romo and Roethlisberger and guess what Romo has 2 SB rings and Roethlisberger is looking for a new place to play QB and Dallas is looking for a QB.

I have never seen Romo make a fourth quarter come back. He is just not clutch.

How was that it a weak argument when you indirectly agreed with me?

p.s. Tom may have gotten at least 1 if he awas  a Raider. Jesus himself couldn't help the Browns.

Ben is good... but hes not anywhere near good enough to even be considered for something like that. Drew Breeze, or Mcnabb, and possibly Tom brady, as much I hate to say that.

I would say as a fundamental QB that could have been better, but because after being tagged by Bart Scott Big Ben haven't been the same, he has seem to fall off a little.

Ben my man, my alma matter man... he's a far better QB than most people gave him credit for, I think it's safe to say that.  Yeah it's easy to attribute his success to the rest of the team, but obviously the rest of the team needs that certain leader to make all the parts work.  He's as strong and mobile as all hell, about as hard to take down as an ox.  And the part about his game that never ceases to astound me is that he's clutch.  Kid's got ice water in his veins.  Even if you don't believe the Steelers deserved to win those two Superbowls, you've got to give the kid credit for orchestrating comebacks.  Let's face it - he walked into a miraculous rookie season, lacking a pedigree from the collegiate elite, and continues to perform at a high level.

It isn't valid to say, let's put him on the Raiders and see how many rings he has... what, are you gonna say next that Tom Brady or Peyton Manning owe their success to the Pats and the Colts?  Because they wouldn't bring the Raiders or Browns to the Superbowl?  Who would?  You're dodging the question with indirect comparisons...

Is Ben the best?  No... he lacks the skillset of the Bradys and the pedigree of the Mannings of the world.  But it doesn't matter.  You can't take away what he's accomplished, and it stands that the Steelers are one of the most stable teams in the league.  It's a lot easier to wreck a good team than it is to get a free ride... so go ahead and continue to underestimate him.  It's better to be an unsung success than a loudmouthed car wreck of a failure.

Romo has blown it at the end of the past two seasons.  Ben comes through in the end of games after handing the ball off for three quarters.  Ben is one of the best QBs in the league on 3rd down because he has to be.

McNabb better than Ben? Now that I have stopped laughing for the last 10 minutes I will reply.
McNabb like Romo is just not clutch. Oh wait, maybe I forgot that McNabb has 3 rings...oh wait he does not have any.
I am trying to think of something that would make McNabb better that Ben.....20 minutes later, I still got nothing.
What happens in the NFL in January is what matters most. Ask Ken Anderson.
