15%d. Kobe has a lot of years left and will get at least 3 more titles & pass MJ!

31%b. Well, up until now they have both been pretty similar but Kobe has a ways to go yet if he wants to pass Michael.
10%c. Only way Kobe can pass / surpass MJ is if he wins at least 6 titles!
10%d. Kobe has done more than MJ has up to this point in his career so should he keep it up he'll one day probably surpass Jordan.
10%e. C'mon! Kobe is a better offensive player and has a more complete game - he is ALREADY at least as good as MJ & will only get better!

4%a. Top-10? Get out of here - Kobe is not even in the top-500!
54%b. He's a great player but doesn't deserve top-10 ranaking yet, mybe he will in future.
23%c. Yeah, he's top-10 already and slowly creeping up towards the top!
19%d. Absolutely is he top-10 right now! He dominates this current era, how could he not be!

Being the DIE_HARD Laker Fan that I am, I'd like to say one thing...
THERE IS ONLY ONE MICHAEL JORDAN, AND IN ANY LIFETIME WE WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER BALLPLAYER LIKE THAT AGAIN.

I am a KOBE fan too, but please let this question rest!  Kobe is great; as great a player we may see in a long time, but NOBODY will be MJ...Not LeBron, nor Kobe or any other up and coming stars.  There will never be another like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem, Jerry West, Oscar Robinson, Magic Johnson, Julius Erving or Larry Bird.  NEVER.  Same with Jordan.  We set standards to reach to compare stats and styles, and Kobe will be added to those I've mentioned before.  But to be the "next" can never be accomplished.  Greatness holds its own place, and all you can do is make great yourself...

I think he can...but the word surpass I don't think it's appropriate to use this term. They both have different styles.. But in terms of point system.. Kobe can..

#25 | 137 days ago

In records he has already surpassed him.. I wish everyone would stop with that.. Kobe is in his own class... nuff said..he proved it this year..as his fans already knew he would :)
#26 | 137 days ago

not all records but there was a couple he passed him this year in the finals

Lets see, Phil Jackson is staying another year and now the Lakers have Ron Artest to add to an already potent offense. Kinda hard to bet against Kobe getting at least one more ring. Kobe (just like Jordan), has a great supporting cast and a great Coach- in fact, he has the SAME COACH that Jordan had. But, I see Phil Jackson retiring after this season and Kobe will struggle without him.

Finally someone speaking the truth about Kobe etc. Wow! I'm smiling ear to ear right now. I am a massive fan of Kobe Bryant and I never really got into Jordan because I loved me some original M.J. (Magic Johnson). So I grew up mimicing my game after a totally different type of player. I respected what Jordan did, but I was never totally captivated until I studied him in 1991 when they defeated my Lakers 4-1. Jordan earned my respect at the point and I watched him nearly every game there after. There will never be another anyone of that talent, skill and caliber that played before. Each great player of our past have set the bar, set standards and each were above and beyond good at what they did on the court. Kobe will forever be Kobe. Not Jordan, not Wilt, not Bill, not Kareem, not Magic, not Bird, he will only and always be Kobe. He is the best player of his era. No one comes close to what he can do overall now. On top of that Kobe if he stays in great shape and does not have any career ending injuries will have 3-5 more years left. He will continue to shaker records, continue to do what no other player has done before him and continue to win championships. My thought is even if/when Kobe wins 2-3 more rings he will not get the respect he deserves due to his off the court troubles and his attitude towards his teammates when he was young. Why people hang on to the past for so long I don't know, but if they let it go then Kobe will be considered as Good as MJ one day. To be truthfully no one may not ever give Kobe that respect because even if he's numbers, rings, titles, mvp's and mentality match Jordan there will always be something that Kobe lacks in the eyes of the pubic view. At the end of the day it's what Kobe thinks about himself and that is the only opinion that really matters.

never Kobe is not as mature as Jordan and because of that he ran away all his help to accomplish that..
#39 | 109 days ago

Its hard to say right now
#40 | 108 days ago

Kobe will never be as good as micheal jordan and never will be. The Lakers didnt win the first 3 titles because of Kobe they won them coz of Shaq, Kobe was their to support Shaq. MJ never was the supporter he was always the go 2 guy the guy that the trusted to make big shots for them. The only player in the leauge at the moment that will pass MJ will be LeBron.
