Let's see.  Kesey Kahne just won his first race in 38 tries - is he now a hero and was he a zero? Don't think so.

David Reutimann won his first race just a few short days ago,  Is he now a hero after being a zero? Doubtful.

Jeff Gordon also won just a short time ago.  Hero? Or Zero cuz he hasn't repeated? Nope

Ryan Newman had an awesomely unbelievable season just a few years ago.  After a long drought, he's finally back in the hunt, but hasn't won a race yet.  Does that make him a zero?  Nope, and if you say so, you aren't a NASCAR Fan.

Morgan Shepherd is 70 plus years old and still driving a race car.  He hasn't won a race in decades, yet he keeps after it, week after week after week.  In my mind, he is one of the biggest heroes out there.

Sorry, but it's a non-question.

Of course Junyah is my driver, so I cant just let this slide by. Before doing this poll, did you happen to go look up any of the other driver's you have listed, and see how long some of their winless droughts were?  Or is this just because Junyah is well, JR???

Racing is not unlike an expansion team in the NFL. 2 years ago Junyah's world had a massive shake up, and he still managed to win a race last year (3 if you count the non points races he also won). They are a team rebuilding, and he has all the tools now. Did anyone reeally think that 3 weeks with a new CC was going to produce miracles?? If ya'll did, then you dont know a lot about rebuilding, and getting to know the "team" you are working with, all over, from scratch.
I certainly didn't, but I have listened each week on the radio, and the communication is better than it has EVER been, and they are fine tuning things, and I definitely expect to see some positive results before the end of the year.

Hero?????????? Hardly, nor do I think he wants to be. Zero? Again hardly, nor will he ever be, as the stats he already has amassed are better than half the drivers on the track.

It is the "Earnhardt" factor that rears its head in these polls. If his name was , oh say, J J Yeley or Johnny Sauter would you even care??? I dont think there would even be a poll to answer....LOL

I agree with every thing AndiLee said!  Remember the days when it seemed Jeff Gordon was winning every race? How is he doing now? Yes, Jr is going thru a rough patch right now, and I'm not saying that he will ever be one of the greatest drivers of all time but I promise you this JR WILL BE IN NASCAR HISTORY years from now!

My Point exactly!! The Name "Earnhardt" and the "Earnhardt Factor" as you refer to it ALWAYSSSSSSSSSSSS comes into play no matter what the circumstance is.  Jr has done NOTHING with a CAPITAL N for a longggggggggg time and yet everyone worships this guy and why?? Again...Its the "Earnhardt Factor" "Jr Nation" has to realize that Jr will never fill his daddys shoes and yet I think that why alot of of Sr fan jumped to Jrs bandwagon because of the "Earnhardt Factor"  As you stated... if any other driver such as JJ Yeley or Johnny Sauter has been having a year like "Mr Golden Boy Jr" has been having for the last couple years NO ONE WOULD CARE....Everyone needs to see Jr for what he is and not what they want him to be....Everyone needs to stop and think that he may not be the great driver everyone thinks he is. Excuse me if i dont roll out the red carpet  for him because honestly I think there are alot more driver more worthy of the attention that Jr gets and doesnt deserve half the time.

I will agree with that...all HE wanted to do was drive...not try to fill a pair of shoes too big for him...and he has tried to drive....he has had multiple opportunites to drive and the end result has always been the same.

I will agree to disagree....especially seeing as who your driver is..LOL. Not everyone is destined for stardom, and Jr never said he was there to fill anyones shoes...the fans are who expected that.

As for his results always having been the same..please refer to the other thread posted by Pat about him not making the Chase, cos I am too tired to post the stats again.

Here we are going on the 17th race of the season, and the "fans choice" is  still struggling to maintain his composer.
He has the most fans, the best equipment and the backing and access to the best information known to NASCAR. Yet, every week he falls further and further back in the standings? Is it "The Team or is it Junior?" I vote he needs to re-examine his racing "Roots" and make a choice....be the" Favorite" or "Drive the Damn Thing like you STOLE IT!!!!!!!!!!"
I'm not against Dale Jr. He drives for my (27 year long following) team. He could be one of the best if he would quit being "Bullied by the Media" All other active Hendricks drivers are pulling their weight....Do you think Jr. is realy driving at his Apex? NOT!!!!!!!

No he isnt..but all the things that you have mentioned came at different intervals for him, as far as best team, best equipment, best information....and you forgot that he just now 4 weeks ago, got someone that can teach him how to assemble all that as a whole.

I am not dissin Tony Eury Jr, but I have listened to those 2 for many years, they talked at each other. Tony bowed down to Junyah..McGrew does not. He is teaching Junyah how to describe the car, better than I have ever heard Junyah do it... HE doesnt ask Junyah what he wants him to do..he asks how the car is and then TELLS Junyah what he is going to do..Give them another month together...I am betting they start coming on!!

He has been at Hendricks what, 2 years???? Each year another piece was added...I do believe he now has all the pieces..but WTH do I know, I am sitting in my house, and they dont pay me for my opinion.

As before, I stand my ground and have made my point! I'm not trashing Dale Jr. on his ability, I'm trashing him on his decision to leave his Fathers dynasty, one that was created for his  "ENTIRE" Family. Jr. thought he should control something he had little involvement in building DEI. After he grows-up a little and realizes where his "Roots" lie....I feel Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be the champion his Dad helped groomed him to be! Thanks to all the Dale fans for helping NASCAR grow! My hats off to TOWERMAN, for knowing the direction of a champion!

the thing is that the pressure that is on him makes it hard for him to go out and race his heart out....NASCAR is all about sponsorship money now...and if he does something wrong the sponsors will be all over his back...i to am tired of all the hooblah about Junior...let the guy drive and at the end of his career you can make assumptions about him...whether or not you think he is worthless or overrated or what have you...i for one love the guy whether or not he wins again or not
1. Jeff Gordon  2. Before the start of the first race of 2010
#19 | 132 days ago

i am not sure that will happen...it has been in the rumor mill that Truex will be leaving this next year for MWR...and so that only leaves Juan Pablo Montoya....Bass Pro Shops will leave with Truex as well...but i do see Jr racing for his own team kinda like Stewart is....thats what was predicted for Keselowski...that he would drive for Juniors team if he brings it up from Nationwide or Keselowski will drive a 3rd SHR car
1. Jeff Gordon  2. Before the start of the first race of 2010

Call me carzy, I have been saying this since Junyah left DEI..Look for some kind of partnership between JRM and SHR.

Smoke and Junyah have many ties!

that would be a GREAT team if Smoke and Junior got together and had a team together...

Dale Jr. would make a great asset to Stewart Haus Racing! Again, Smoke now being an" owner"
would still expect better results from Jr. Look at Smoke and Rocket Mans Stats for their first year "In business"
They are "Do or Die" drivers just as Dale Sr. was. They have the "killer" instinct......does Jr.?
#23 | 132 days ago

Honestly, and just not as a Junyah fan..I truly believe he does..now that his life is settliing down,.maybe he can show that again

Neither.... he is just an 'also ran'.  He shows none of the desire nor the fire to be a winner.  If he wants more could he obtain it?  Good question - nothing he has done so gives any indication one way or the other....  as for some of you who compared him in any way to Jeff Gordon, that almost made me spit coffee all over my computer.  Totally ridiculous! Theyere is what - only 3 years differance in age and all you have to do it glance at their stats to see how stupid any comparison is!  Get real folks!   Wishin' don't make it so!
