Vikings have a killer running game and the defense is great. Give them a viable option at Quarterback and they seem like a well rounded team. They have as good a shot as anyone.

OK....lol.....that statement is laughable...

Can the Vikings get to the Superbowl?  Yes, as can several other teams from the NFC--the Eagles and Giants being two of the front-runners (also, watch out for Seattle now that Hasselbeck is healthy AND has recievers).

The Vikings are going to be a fun team to watch this year!

With Favre the Queens will go 11-5, win the NFC Norris, probably get a bye and host a playoff game.  Will they win one?  Maybe. Without Favre, they go 9-7 at best and may or may not make the playoffs, and if they do, they bow out right away.

I have to believe they will, because a new season is coming and hope springs eternal every fall.  I would hope for that no matter what, now with the biggest hole on the offense potentially being filled... I CAN'T FREAKING WAIT FOR THIS SEASON!!!

With or without Favre, the Vikings win the north.  Chicago made some great strides this off-season, and the Packers are progressing to the point that the NFC North will be a competitive division in comparison to the others--with a chance of claiming 2 of the playoff spots.  Even so, Minnesota is the most complete team; with their defense any team that plays them will have to be at the top of their game.

It all depends on AP!

anyone in the NFC (except detroit and st. louis, and possibly tampa) has a shot to win the conference. if favre plays with the vikings, he will probably implode like he did with the jets last year, and with the packers in the nfc title game

I don't like ANY of the answers listed. I think ( with or without Favre at QB) the Vikings are a pretty good team overall, but still aren't good enough to far into the playoffs or make it to the Superbowl- but they are definitely a playoff bound team nonetheless! They will probably finish exactly the same same way they finished last season- one and done in the playoffs. My reasoning for this is that the NFC East is just too powerful to bet against with possibly fielding 3 teams into the playoffs again (the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants) this upcoming season and the Panthers, Saints, and Falcons (if last season wasn't a Cinderella Year) are no joke either. I just don't feel that the Vikings are as good as those 6 teams I listed even IF Brett Favre was slinging the rock for them.

While a lot of fans up here have drank the "Purple Kool-Aid",  I'm hopeful that they will pull this off and FINALLY win a Super Bowl, after losing 4 of the first 11!!  We could break out of that horrible tie with Buffalo!!  A lot will have to break right, plus no key injuries, especially to AP...we'll see, but I took the odds, and said no.  Would LOVE to be proven wrong, however!!  GO VIKINGS!!

There's always a chance.  The ball bounces in funny ways sometimes, and it wouldn't be the first time that the best team didn't make it to the big game.  I don't think we've seen the best of the Vikes yet though.  With 2 new (and young) players on the offensive line--Rookie RT Loadholt, and 2nd year C Sullivan, I expect the line to get better as the season progresses.  It will be an interesting season.

Playoff football means you will play against the best defenses, and if a team shuts down the Vikings running attack, which has been done in the past, you then make the QB beat you. Same formula as last year, except this year you have Brett Farve instead of Tavaris Jackson. This is assuming Farve makes it through the season, and that he has enough gas left in the tank to play and play well in the playoffs, games 17 and 18 are always the mot important of the year. Not Weeks 1-3.

man just because of a new engine does that give jeff gordon at winning it all in Nascar!!! No, the same with Brett,he is one of the most talented qbs  of all time, but in time he will break down and not have the accuracy and it will stop the vikings in their tracks..........

Well Jenn girl I have drunk the Purple Kool-Aid and it tastes good!  If Harvin continues to learn the Pro game and develop, Adrian keeps driving for 2000 and Farve doesn't lose any games, I see few, if any NFC teams that would scare me right now, possible exception, Saints......but the Vikes just need to take it 1 game at a time.

I don't like their chances.... First, Favre is old and he's been an ironman but even he's said he might not be able to make every start this year. Second, Chicago and Green Bay are both pretty good too... Green Bay is out for blood so you know they'll play hard against Minny... I don't see three teams making the playoffs from this one division and frankly I think Chicago and Green Bay may take those two spots and leave Minny out in the cold.

Finally, if the best you can do against SF is win in the last second on an almost miracle play when the niners didn't even have Gore for 99% of the game... well lets just say I think that Minny will run into tougher teams than SF that they won't be able to beat at the last second.

The biggest advantage any team has against the Vikings is their coaching.  46 passes to 19 runs for AP...when he averaged 4.5 yards in the game?  Not smart.  But don't count the Vikings out.  That would be a mistake.

The Brett Favre we see saw this past Sunday is not the same one we will see at the end of the season. (And frankly, the Favre we saw wasn't that good outside of his miracle to end the game.) He is an old man and my money says he breaks down before the season is through. His 2nd half numbers with the Jets were awful last season.

Brett Favre proved all of us wrong once again, and showed us that he CAN STILL  PLAY! I believe this year, the Superbowl is up for grabs, because there are a lot of good solid teams out there with a chance of REALLY  winning it all. From the Patriots to the Vikings, with teams like the Jets and Bengals mixed in there as well. I personally feel that being in the black and blue division once again at this age, and at this point of his career is not a good thing for Brett, and I know that the Packers REALLY  want to hit him hard and often this Monday, and if he does make it out in one piece Monday night, he still has to contend with speedy heavy hitters like the Bears as well. I don't see Brett finishing off this year physically under well conditions, and I truly believe the Iron Man will finally rust out and break down for good. With that said, I do not see the Vikings going to the Superbowl this year at all. But, if the Bears don't go, then there is no-one else I rather see play for it then Brett Favre, and win it, so that he can finally retire in peace, instead of retiring in pieces.

The Vikes have been above average at best for the past couple of seasons. Favre will allow them to take the next step to get into the playoffs, however, the Super Bowl is a little far fetched for them right now.

Deep thoughts here in Duluth are the vikings weak any where, special teams comes to mind where one team is weak and another is strong they will beat you. I hope farve doesn't weaken down the stretch with to many throws to whats his name in the back of the end zone.  im still looking for who is the total package.

Maybe I am mistaken but wasn't he injured after Week 13? True, it wasn't mentioned on the injury report. Couldn't that explain his drop off last year? As a Viking his record is what.....oh yeah, 3-0

The Vikings look like a team capable of making it to the superbowl as long as they stay healthy. The Saints and Giants both look very tough and well rounded. NFC west could produce another longshot like my Cardinals again, or even the 49ers who could easily win the division the way they've been playing.
