Best Shortstop of all time? (Edited 03/23/07 09:06AM by Seth)
Tough call.  Arguably the most difficult position to play in baseball and perhaps all of sports, the great names are plenty but only the best 10 are going to make this list.  Honorable mention goes to Luis Aparicio, Omar Vizquel, Joe Cronin, Alan Trammell, Miguel Tejada, Vern Stephens, Maury Wills, Dave Concepcion, Bill Dahlen, Phil Rizzuto, Pee Wee Reese, and Lou Boudreau.

Rodriguez played 10 years at SS before switching to 3B.  His 10 years at SS are better than any of the other guys on the list.  Who else belongs?  It was a tough choice but look at it....
Alex Rodriguez 94-03
'03 MVP, '02-'03 Gold Gloves, 345 HR's, 177SB's, '96 Batting Title, scored 100+ runs 8 times ('96-'03), 40/40 club ('98), drove in 100+ 7 times ('96, '98-'03), .305 career ave...

Wills
'62 MVP, '61-'62 Gold Gloves, 586 SB's, 2 seasons of 100+ runs

Aparicio
Gold Glove 9 times, 506 SB's, but .262 career ave

Stephens
No Gold Gloves, .286 career ave, 8 time All-Star, more career walks than k's

Concepcion
5 Gold Gloves, 9 time All-Star, 2300+ hits, .267 career ave, never scored or drove in more than 100+ in any season

Trammell
4 Gold Gloves, 6 time All-Star, World Series MVP ('84), 2300+ career hits, 1000+ career runs scored and RBI's

Cronin
7 time All-Star, 100+ RBI 8 times, 1000+ runs scored, 2200+ career hits

Dahlen
2400+ hits, 1500+ runs scored, 547 SB's, .272 ave

Reese
10 time All-Star, 1300+ runs scored, 2100+ hits, .269 career ave
I don't think anybody else deserved it....

1. Honus Wagner  2. Derek Jeter  3. George Davis  4. Arky Vaughn  5. Alex Rodriquez  6. Barry Larkin  7. Ozzie Smith  8. Cal Ripken Jr.  9. Luke Appling  10. Robin Yount
