Does Pete Carroll have something against National Championships? (Edited 11/09/09 07:43PM by jaredtrojan)
To Trojan fans I mean no offense by this but in the past 4 seasons Pete has had an extremely talented team lose to a team that did not even rival the talent of his second stringers. No one can deny that USC has a group of some of the country's most talented players but would they be able to preform better without Pete?

100% Pete's fault for the loss. He is NOT "the man". It is his assistants who made that team win. Pete is a bloviating, cocky, sissy bi%*&. His offensive coordinator just kicked his butt!

For once I would like USC to play as the underdog.  I wonder what it would feel like.
Oh yeah!

Only real champions can handle the pressure at the top.

Apparently, only USC has two #8 opponents on their schedule as well.

The last I checked the USC .857% of BCS bowl wins among teams with 3 or more appearances was only topped by LSU and Texas, I bet there are several schools who'd take that.  Right Notre Dame, OU, Michigan, VPI, Nebraska, etc.

The reason USC has a good bowl record is because they only play Big 10 teams every year.
Since Pete Carroll took over, in the 3 bowls against other conferences they are 1-2 ( beat Oklahoma, lost to Utah and Texas ).
I would love to see a playoff system for just that reason... to see match-ups that we never get to see.

USC has had some embarrassing losses to teams they should have blown out. At the same time, they haven't gotten beat by Michigan in a bowl game. Like Florida. They win the big games and they get ahead of themselves. I guarantee they will win at least 1 or 2 NCs before Barkley is gone.

Seems like the Trojans "play down" to their opponents at times and get complacent!  This needs to stop!  The Trojans ARE one of the BEST NCAA Football teams in the Nation- year in and year out- but ALWAYS find a way to lose to a team they shouldn't!

they seem to be missing that one piece, that one piece they had when they beat oklahoma and beat michigan to share the titl with lsu. what that piece is, i dont know yet.

I'm thinking that "piece" might be complacency!!!  They usually have one of the BEST assembled teams in the Nation- yet fail to win games that should be easy for them! I think they become complacent and develop that "We can't be beaten by anyone attitude"!  I also believe that that "attitude" falls squarely on Pete Carroll's shoulders!  Just a thought.....

When USC played Washington they were also dealing with a situation where both the previous year's offensive and defensive coaching staff on the opposite side of the field had been mentored by Pete Carroll for four or five years. For USC to lose the game in the final three seconds was a heartbreaker but didn't compare to the problem of the "other side" understanding their opponent's way of doing things. And whoever suggests that, for whatever reason, the Trojans lay down for a game every season is dead on. My take is that they get cocky and do a lot of strutting until they realize they have to win every game, one-at-a-time. I also have some strong feelings about Pac10 officials and how many calls and "spots" they blow each week - but that influences all of the teams, not just USC. Too many of them are inept and just plain mess up. That's really disconcerting in a conference as strong as Pac10 is.
