Is Reggie Bush a bust?

Me and one of my buddies were watching the the Saints game and we started talking about Reggie Bush and I said I consider him a bust. I said that LenDale White has had a more successful NFL career and he said that LenDale White is just some fat dude that gets goal line caries that result in many touchdowns, therefore his numbers are skewed. So I told him the only true way to get to the bottom of this was to ask the smartest sports fan I know, the FanIQ community.

When deciding if a player is a bust, it is important to see who was passed up by the Saints.....How about Joseph Addai and DeAngelo Williams. Both were also 1st-Round RBs in 2006....taken a lot later and therefore paid a LOT less money for a LOT more production thus far in their careers.

Bush is the bigger bust only because he was drafted #2 overall in 2006 and White went in the second round #45 overall. Both are situational backs with injury problems.

he plays on a good team. Drew Brees overshadows everything the team does. if they needed Bush to be a bigger threat, he may have had some better numbers.

No I dont think he is a bust Bush is a specialty player & u new that when he was drafted lik they say u cant teach speed he wouldve been a bust in houston because he is not a every down rb & as 4 white no he is not a bust wit 2days NFL system of 2 rb he is perfect its not a lot of rb that hav scored more tds than he has jus lik when he was @USC

WELL ITS REALLY TO EARLY TO JUDGE THEM BOTH. I STILL THINK THAT BUSH HAS BEEN HAMPERED BY INJURY AND THE SAINTS ARE JUST NOW STARTING TO FIND A NICHE FOR BUSH. YOU WILL SEE ALOT MORE BUSH HIGHLIGHTS TO COME IN THE YEARS. AS FOR WHITE HE IS BECOMING AN AFTERTHOUGHT WITH THE WAY C.JOHNSON HAS BEEN RUNNING THE BALL,MOST USED FOR SHORT YARDAGE. LENDALE WHITE IS KINDA ONE OF THOSE LEROY HOARD TYPE OF GUYS..

POINT#2 SAINTS ARE A PASSING TEAM WITH ALOT OF TALENT EVERYWHERE ON OFFENSE, T TITANS DONT HAVE MUCH TALENT AND PUT ON MOST TEAMS IN THE NFL WHITE WOULD BE NO MORE THAN A BACKUP RB.

From before he was drafted, I was screaming to anyone that would listen that he would be the modern day Eric Metcalf. So far, he has been EXACTLY that. Injury prone, not reliable as a running back, but useful in the passing game and capable of big plays on offense and special teams. It's not a bad thing, it's just not the kind of thing you invest a #1 pick in. Similar players like Jerious Norwood can be had later in the draft.

my USC loyalty refrains me from commenting on this, but he has only been pro for 4 years. he has time.... and KIM FREAKIN KARDASHIAN!

Reggie Bush is the same type player player that Eric Metcalf was with the Cleveland Browns. They are both exceptional athletes that can score from anywhere on the field by run, pass, or kick return. But they are not every down running backs because they both lacked the heart to take the hits from running between the tackles. As others have posted, he is not a bust, he just wasn't worth the high draft pick. Another one in this category is Ted Ginn Jr. He cannot handle the contact of an every down receiver, but you cant deny his value as a kick returner. All three were definitely drafted too high based on their speed, not their heart.

Even right now he is over rated.  If he was not on the Saints,  he would not even be as good as he is now.   He is not terrible,  but he has not lived up to his HIGH draft RB expectations that were expected of him when he was in college either.  Any RB that racks up more receiving yards than rushing yards would fall in the same category.

Bush is a bust when you consider how highly he was taken(come on people, the 2nd guy chosen!!!), and what he was supposed to bring. I was one who thought that draft was terrible, with Young and Bush being way too hyped. At the NFL level, Bush's speed is not so much faster like it was in college, and I felt he just would never be that #1, 1,500 yard rushing, 1,000 yr receiver, numbers some "anal"ysts were throwing around. Oops, typo. Oh well, lost my backspace key.

The counter was, Barry Sanders was small, and look at his career. My counter was, that is Barry Sanders, that is a once in a lifetime athlete.

Bush has a definite role on the team now though, and he can be very effective. I vote bust only because he now fills a role, coming off the bench, where he was supposed to be the man.

LenDale White? Well, let's just say he was waived on my fantasy football team pretty quickly.
Watching him, I always said he'd be the better pro, but he'd need to get in shape, and get his attitude right. He did that last year, and I just don't know what happened this year. Maybe a Titan fan can fill us in more.

He's somewhat of a bust when compared to some of the other players taken later, but I wouldn't rank him on the list of top 50 worst busts ever.

He is much like all the other over hyped USC players................average NFL players.  The truth is that the not so hyped players coming out of USC have been having better consistent careers than many of the hyped up players................I am sure some USC homer will come on and start naming a FEW that are doing well, but think about all of those players that got all kinds of hype and where they are today versus the players who were later round draft picks that are solid performers for their teams.

Actually you're right..Southern Cal players drafted in later rounds have out-performed higher Trojan picks
