Wetherell says Bowden's job is safe for now---Black Out Game For Saturday! (Edited 10/09/09 11:45PM by JRSFLAME88)
It's hard living so close to Seminole Country! This announcement just interrupted our regularly scheduled programming:
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida State University President T.K.
Wetherell says coach Bobby Bowden's job is safe for now.
In a news release Wednesday, Wetherell said the coaching
situation will be re-evaluated at the end of the season. Wetherell
also said offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher will be the next head
coach when Bowden leaves, and school officials will start working
with Fisher on an agreement to that end.
Bowden's future at the school came under intense scrutiny this
week when the chairman of the university's trustees, Jim Smith,
said the aging coach who once made the Seminoles a national
powerhouse should leave after this season.
Fans and alumni have grown disgruntled with a program in decline
for years.
Bowden's 384 wins are second all-time only to Penn State's Joe
Paterno among major college coaches.
The FSU Fans who think Bowden should step down will be wearing black while attending the FSU/GA TECH Game on Saturday. Should be interesting to see how much Black will be in the stands!
