So, Do You Have A Good Ghost Story?
Some people believe in ghost, some people don't.  But we've all heard, told, or experienced ghost stories.

Have you lived in a house that was haunted?  Or been in an old building that was rumored to be haunted?

Have you ever played with an Ouija Board?  Did you get any "reads" off of it?

Let's hear it, FanIQ.  It's October, so it's time to give some people goosebumps.

Did you hear the one about the 'Q' being haunted by the ghost of TopNach's former user account?

I don't have any personal ghost stories, but the stuff I've seen on tv (i.e. Unsolved Mysteries, Ghost Hunters) about ghosts is pretty intriguing, though I have some speculation of those stories being entirely true.

I have spent a night in a hotel allegedly haunted, that just happens to be in the same town as the Mothman. It was an old hotel like the one you see in the original "The Shining".

I had the master suite with a jacuzzi, and I set it up with just candlelight. The ceiling was not "finished" the way you normally expect it to be, and when I laid back to relax, the shadows that the flickering candle light was freaky. After about 5 minutes, I was so freaked out and jumped out of the hot tub and turned on all the lights!

That's my personal story - Now here is one I saw on TV.

I love the show "Destination Truth" on the Syfy channel (or as they used to be know - the SciFi channel). The second season just began a few weeks ago. They do excellent work trying to find scientific proof of mythical beings around the glove. They visited an allegedly haunted circle in a forest in Transylvania where nothing will grow in it. They took soil samples and set up the normal cameras facing everywhere. They took turns sitting quietly alone in the middle of the circle. The third guy in was there about 10 minutes, when they people monitoring the cameras back at base camp, picked up shadow figures back over his shoulder. He turned and couldn't see anything. About 10 seconds later, he was literally jerked from his sitting position and dragged into the woods about 30 yards away. They ran to him from base camp about 500 yds away, and when they checked him over, he had scratch marks on the arm that he was jerked by, UNDER his long sleeve shirt AND long sleeve jacket.

This show normally concludes that there is no evidence of the "mythical creatures", and then handle everything in a very scientific and skeptical manner. This looked VERY real to me and I would be shocked if this was staged.

I was sitting on my chair on a no moon night n then 2 hands appeared from behind n touched my shoulder. I started breathing heavily as there was no light, the whole city was dark n it was midnight with thick blackness that even an inch cannot be seen. The hand moved from shoulder to neck, I started sweating n then when it was about to break my neck I saw the horror face of my GF with teeth hanging out from each side....

N then my alarm went On n felt so comfortable to see me in healthy condition. My 1 n only ghost ever I saw....

My favorite ghost story is one set in Victorian England, late 1800's.  A Doctor is home alone during a mid winter blizzard.  There's a knock on the door.  A girl about 7 or 8 is standing in the cold, wearing only a dress and red coat or shawl,  it changes based on who tells it.  She has to use a cane.  She tells the doctor her mother is very sick and needs help.  He gets his bag and follows her to her mother's house.  Once inside, he finds the mother very sick in her bed.  He takes care of her and stays with her until she can speak.  She asked why he showed up, how did she know she needed a doctor?  He says her daughter came to his house during the blizzard.  The mother responds that's impossible, my daughter died 5 years ago.  Thinking the mother delirious, he says she was wearing a red coat, (or shawl), and had a cane.  The mother says check my cabinet by the bed, there you will see.  He checks the cabinet and there finds the girl's red coat and cane, both completely dry and unused for 5 years.  He looks around the house, and finds no evidence of anyone else living in the house.

Although I believe in Ghosts, I personally have had experiences all of my life well actually since I turned 16 yrs old, & I saw my grandmother who passed away & lived 3000 miles away standing in the door frame of my bedroom door the night she passed away.  I sat up in bed and held a conversation with her for 5 minutes, and since then I am able to see spirits, and feel spirits, & sometimes they even hurt me when they are trying to get my attention.  I have pictures of bite marks & bruises to document when these strange markings appear on my body.  So yes, do I believe in Ghosts or Spirits.. ABSOLUTELY.  Am I afraid?  HELL NO.. they just want to be heard just like those who are alive..

Although it wasn't me, but when I went to Port Arthur in Tasmania for Year 8 camp, we did a tour of this jail & were told that this was last used about 130 years ago & people still see spirits of the people there. A few people in my group claim to have seen a convict & they said something to the lot of them.
There's also pictures in the visitors centre of people taking photos around the jail with ghosts that somehow appeared in them (after post-developing).

I believe in an afterlife so I can conceive that some souls find a way to come through.  My ex saw a little girl standing beside the bed one night holding a doll and when he turned on the light she disappeared.  Don't know if it counts though cause he had a few beers (ok...a lot) before he went to bed.  But he swears he saw her.

I do love to watch Ghost Hunters on SyFy (which by the way is a stupid change from Sci Fi) and I love when they catch the voices on tape and the images on film.  It gives me chilly bumps!

It was early morning and I was just waking up. I thought someone was in my bedroom so I tried pretending I was asleep until they left. After a couple a seconds I got scared so I peeked and saw a shadow standing at the foot of my bed. When I opened my eyes I saw it walk out the door.  Hell, I didn't know if I was dreaming or what. so I sat straight up and grabbed my pillow and went to the living room till I got over myself. I really never thought anymore about it until I found out later that my mother-in-law passed away in the early morning hours. We were very close and I thought it must have been her. A couple of months later a friend told me about having an aura picture taken and I thought it sounded cool so I went. When I got my pic guess who was sitting in my lap? Freaky huh?

I've stated on here that I believe one day that science will explain all or most paranormal phenomena.  What I really meant was that it will prove the existence of such events, but will explain them.

I've had quite a number of unexplainable events happen to me.  But I'll just give ya one.  And since you mentioned Ouija Board stories, I'll go w/ one of those.

When I was about 17 or so, I was seeing this chick who was very into the paranormal.  As was just about all of her family.  They weren't goth or anything, just everyone had a personal story.  My friend and I go over there to hang out, and in our boredom decide to break out the Ouija Board.  She breaks out the candles, turns out the lights, really doing it up right.  Doesn't take long for things to get interesting.  The pointer was very active and it never felt like anyone was pushing it.  But then....

The thing starts going crazy.  The candles start flickering.  The thing starts circling in a fervor.  It starts going so fast, no way any of us are doing it.  But I can't pull my hands off!  It starts going 666 circles again, 666 and keeps doing it, straight up pulling us to it.  Finally, we break free of the pointer and it keeps circling for just a moment and then comes to a stop.  We're then taken by surprise as we hear a nervous laugh from w/in the room.  She goes over to where the noise came from and picked up this furby-type doll.  She opens up the battery compartment to show us that there aren't any in there.  I can't describe the level of freaked out we are.

Oh yeah, there was a little more to the story.  Before things got crazy, the spirit or whatever told us to go outside to a pond she had in the back of her complex at a certain time.  After a "WTF just happened moment", we were pretty quick to get out of that room.  So since we were already outside, we decided to check it out (if this were a movie, you'd be screaming at the screen, I know).  So we go out to where the pond is and it's quiet.  The time comes and nothing happens.  We kinda breathe a sigh of relief.  There was this lil dock or whatever, so I stroll on over to it.  Then I notice the water is starting to bubble like there's something breathing underneathe.  And it starts to bubble violently.  I turn point it out to them and the girl screams "RUN!", so we just jetted.

One of the scariest nights in my life.  I swear to you on my father's grave, this is all 100% true.

I have to raise my hands up to you.. that was a great story, true or not, but damn you had me smiling & laughing the whole darn time.. cuz almost the same thing happened to me & my friends back when i was in middle school.. i swear after my experience i never touched another Quija Board ever.  I think those things are just down right awful & nothing good comes out of that board, the only thing that comes out of those boards are evil spirits, not good ones.. So my advice to anyone else reading this string, please NEVER BUY A QUIJA BOARD.. especially if you do not know the right opening & closing ceremonies..

Well when I was little, My mom, grandmother, aunt and someone else went into this old school house.  Well they were going up these stairs.. they were the old spiral kind.  Well My Grandmother was in the front and she said that she told my mom and everyone not to turn around, dont speak, and be careful.   To slowly walk back down the stairs and out the door... her hair was standing up on her neck and she said she felt something in there that was NOT friendly.  They all got out and never went back in.. and to this day ppl just cross the street to pass the house..

I was driving home one night from a football game, it was late and I was just driving, all of a sudden I looked over to the passenger side and I saw a male figure sitting in the seat.. I didnt know who it was and I slammed on the breaks.. the figure disappeared but in front of me I saw a single feather floating in the air in front of the car head lights..

I have seen my great-grandmother sitting on the edge of my bed, and my grandfather just visited me in a dream not to long ago..

There are more myths about ghosts and fear as human is afraid of the "unknown". Word of mouth   at times catches more spices as it moves around.
Simply put, what is perceived as ghost is  soul in transit with thoughts as core of it, but myths give many co lours to simple truths as truth becomes story.!

since childhood, whenever i'm  sick with a fever i have the same dream of being in a marshy area in northern wisconsin where we would vacation. several years ago while on a getaway to this area we were talking about wierd dreams. i brought my dream into the conversation. after about 30 seconds my sister said "gosh, this is crazy" and she recounted the remainder of my dream in complete and accurate detail. we both had been dreaming the same thing for years. kinda spooky.
