FIRST LADIES FAIR COMPETITION - IS IT RIVALRY?

French first lady Carla Bruni has admitted to a 'never-ending beauty contest' with other ladies across the world. She singles out Michelle Obama of the USA and Princess Letizia of Spain as her competition. For this she has unveiled a new website to give the world a peek of her former glamorous super-model days. Is this thing going a bit too far? What do you feel? What are her real intentions or is it her ego for her good looks that has got the better of her?

Can you imagine the heat Michelle Obama would get if she decided to create a website devoted to her wardrobe, in the middle of a recession no less? The first lady (or man for that matter) in this country has typically taken up the challenge of being an ambassador to the people. Laura Bush championed literacy, Obama has pushed for gardens, and Nancy Reagan started "Just Say No". I understand the French probably love her, and she seems likable, but to come out and declare some sort of beauty contest with other world famous women shows that she may be a bit out of touch with the average Joe.
