How Do You Feel About Dale Earnhardt Sr Being In The First Class Of Inductees To The Hall Of Fame?
Read the Article:

Dale Sr was/is iconic to me. Larger than life, and someone that I truly respected and admired.
With that said, I truly don't believe that he should have been amongst the first 5 in (nor two of the others), but this poll is about Sr only.
While he absolutely had a profound and sport changing effect on Nascar, had there not been the pioneers before him, we may never have known who he was.

I do congratulate him and his, for this honor. He is well deserving of the honor in itself, but in my  mind, just not quite yet.

So, here are my 2 questions for the Q Nascar fans:

 as great as a driver as he was, i feel it was a little early also for him to b nominated. did he deserve to be nominated, yes.. was he great for everything he brought to NASCAR, yes.. was he a pioneer for NASCAR, no.. i definetaly feel there were many other people who helped shape NASCAR into what it is today. When Dale drove he was a dominating force, there is no doubt about that.. but i dont feel he was a pioneer for the sport.. i feel they could have waited till the 2nd or 3rd class to nominate him into the hall of fame..

 too early. you are right. you can't bypass so many other pioneers of the sport. next time maybe. third time for sure.

 I dont think it was too early, but I also think when you have something new such as the nascar hof, there should be more than a handful of new members.

 I'm a big Earnhardt fan and he has every right to in the 1st class. I voted for my 5 favorites in the group, Dale and his father and 3 others that I'd heard or read about. So I don't know what the big problem is with Dale Sr. being in the first class. I think it would be an honor to his family and his legacy. I picked names I knew and their racing abilities.

 yes he should be in. He was the face of nascar for years. However many more should have went in also, such as Tim Flock, David Pearson and a few other early drivers.  I think it should have been a 10 member first class.

 One thing that I havent seen mentioned is the fact that not only did Dale Sr win races and championships but he also started a race team and won races as an owner as well as a few championships in the Nationwide series.

 Yes Earnhardt deserved it! He was awesome. Not just his driving style, but his personality! David Pearson needs to be in there. They should of just nominated the top 50 retired drivers. Rusty, Darrell, Neil Bonnett,Harry Gant, Tim Flock,  they all deserve it!

 He is deserving of the HALL, but not in the First Class. NASCAR officially became a Sport in 1948, but truly started in the 30's. Anyone who started Racing in The late 70's shouldn't have been included on the Ballot. Think what you want but NASCAR was going well at times long before the Likes of 4 of these Nominees were involved. Two of the Drivers Petty and Earnhardt, weren't even their own Mechanics or Car/Crew Chiefs. Just the Fact that a Mechanic wasn't included is an embarrassment. Brian France just keeps on embarrassing himself, and he is very fortunate that the economy is in the Tank, or people would really see how many FANS are not going to the Races because they are losing interest. Just My Humble Opinion.

 NASCAR has gone straight down the crap pipe ever since the Tobacco legislation took RJR out of the picture. The HOF is way overdue in my opinion, and I agree that the 1st ballot should have been more inclusive and a little less cliqish. I think they should have set up a category system of voting like the NFL has.....to ensure the old school guys get their due for what they contributed back in the day. There are quite a few guys that deserve to be inducted ahead of Dale Sr. or King Richard, even though both of them are a lock for it.

I have a question of my own.... I know that Bill France Sr, and Bill France Jr really made nascar what it is today, but shouldnt' that be a hall of fame of it's own?... I mean, shouldn't the hall of fame be for Drivers Only? with Bill Sr. and Jr. as Honorary inductee's.. just a thought.... I think it is Great that Dale Earnhardt Sr. is in the first of the Hall of fame inductees...

 Most HOF honor the creators and the athletes together.  One without the other, it wouldn't be the sport.  That's just my opinion.

Yes he deserves it as well as many others.  I just think it's a shame that it took his death for most people to realize his abilities and contributions he made to NASCAR.

 There are two kinds of Earnheardt fans. 
Those that love him and those that hate him. 
I loved his ability to be the intimidator on and off the track. 
Darn straight he deserves to be in the first year!

 There's two guys with 7 championships, and he's one of them.  The other is Richard Petty.  There is no reason to dispute him going in the first induction.

 Hey I am the biggest Sr fan on this earth ( in my opinion), and I agree he belongs there, but being as this is brand new, and there were many amazing people that paved the way, for him to be able to get those 7 championship, (not just him, but Petty too), they should have had the inaugural honors, before Dale and Richard. I am pretty sure he would have felt the same way!

But, with that said, I wrote my congratulations, and I am damn sure not gonna petition anyone to take him out. I just really wanted to see how some of the Dale Sr fans felt about this, and how honest they would be about it!
