Holy Schnikies, our appraisal for the house just came back...the house is valued at $50k more than we'll be paying. We're going IN with equity. So excited.

FIRST!!!!  Thanks for the birthday wishes, Ash!  Son and I are going golfing in a little while....

Morning Q'ers!  Hope you had a GREAT weekend.  Our fundraiser raised $30,000 for the purchase of body armor!  The police in our town really appreciate it.  The vests cost ~$1100 apiece.  When I took over this function in 1995, the cost of a vest was $489.  Things have gotten a bit more expensive over the years.

Just chilling for my birthday....golf, then maybe a dip in the pool.  Weather is nice, so won't be too bad.  As far as I can remember (and I've got an almost porno PHOTOgraphic memory), it's rained 3 times on my birthday-1981, 1997 and 2012.  Since 1963, that's a pretty good record

My parents are coming in from Arizona tomorrow....will be nice to see them.

Here's today's pic...enjoy

THIRD!

It's also my mother-in-law's birthday. I have to remember to shoot her a note.

I'm tired of waking up with back pain. We need a new bed so badly.

I'm already ready for some Supernatural...I have to be unpacking after the mister gets home, so I need to make my watching early. I know we were supposed to be doing that this past weekend, but obviously that didn't happen. At least all the way. One room is done, though!

Hi gang. So my baseball team continued our winning ways yesterday, beating the second place team 11-5 moving our record to 11-0 on the season and outscoring our opponents 167-53. Not bad for a bunch of old guys past their prime. The only thing that sucked was the weather. Temperature wise it wasn't bad, about 85, but it was the GD humidity. And it's back all this week thanks to monsoonal flow. 51% is unbearable when you're used to 10%. I hate it, it stinks

Sooooo, I've resigned myself to the fact Troy Tulowitzki will not be with the Rockies at this time next year.

I like Gyros

Have a great week gang, use protection!

I love this so much, but it baffles me. How does one live in Seattle and not know who that is?

There are so many TV shows I never watched A) because it's hard to watch everything, or B) because I had no desire.
But I've been in one of those moods where I feel like broadening my horizons.
With that in mind, give me some ideas for TV shows to check out, preferably some that may have flown under my radar.

For instance, I watched 2/3 of the pilot of The 4400. It was hilarious, but I don't think it was supposed to be

nope.. Supernatural is even on my list of shows to check out.. But I'm debating whether to start at the pilot or check out a show a little further into the run to see if it grew any legs

If you're going to watch a random ep somewhere in the middle, I'm gonna let Ash suggest which one, because I'm not finished yet. I will say though, that not all episodes have the same feel to them. Some are actually quite creepy and even mess with my head (I'm hard to mess with), but some are kind of campy and silly...there are a couple of episodes that I know if I only saw them, I'd never have gone back. The pilot hooked me a little bit, and then it got progressively more addictive, but Ash might know of a better episode to do so.

then i may edit later. I don't remember much about the 4400 pilot but I really did enjoy the show. It's interesting.

I do not recommend Supernatural to you. You're judgy and it's not that kind of show.
I do recommend more of The 4400.
I........................have nothing. You're too...you know. Hmmmmm... The Mindy Project!! Justified? Rescue Me? Jericho (which i thought i would hate but it got good). Hannibal? The Bernie Mac Show? Prison Break? (this is a definite if you didn't watch it. Make it my #1 for you) Lincoln Heights is on my list.

We already watch the same under the radar stuff. I think you got me to watch them in the first place.

Hmm lemme get in on this TV show thing for Stoney and y'all:

Ultraviolet (BBC, 1998) It's kinda of like a 6 part mini series about a secret government "squad" that chases vampires and what not. Sounds stupid, but it's kinda good. Idris Alba plus a few "that guys" are involved.

Portlandia (IFC) It's the most subtlely, hysterical, over the top, kinda low key nonsense. That made no sense, I know.

And this is happening this fall on Adult Swim. Might be the greatest teaser trailer ever made?

Okay boners, be excellent to each other.

The leftovers reminds me of the 4400 but with more mind blowing horribleness.  Which reminds me of  The100(?) some sci-fi futuristic send the bad kids back, a little campy, but if nothing else is on. I am a little po that i just found out Boardwalk Empire is also ending this year.......geesh all the good stuff is going to be gone, might as well quit watching tv except for sports

thats all i got...just some bi****ng

carryon

Norm Macdonald is a f**king talking pigeon in Mike Tyson Mysteries? Got into a hell of a youtube wormhole of Norm last week, lasted a few hours.

I don't watch TV in the summer at all.  Our winters are far too long, so I am outside whenever possible.  Well, except American Ninja Warriors. If I'm outside I record it.

It was 78F here today as well.  I worked at the golf course all weekend and it was well worth it.

Happy Birthday, Kurt!
