The answer is easy, Peyton Manning now knows how to perform Jedi Mind Tricks!
Actually, I think he was probably being a little aggressive, and a little arrogant. When you have a tough opponent on the road, and you hold onto a lead late in the 4th quarter, conventional thinking says you protect the lead. He made the call on 4th and 2 thinking that he could put the game outta reach with one play BUT he (Belichick) forgot that this year's Colts' D is a much more improved unit than in years' past.... This is why the Colts of 2009 are better than recent Colts teams, their defense can now WIN games and come up with clutch plays (which is something I am not used to seeing myself!!) hmmm.... so far, no problems for me, but just getting used to the new interface. I do like how new features are "tagged" with a small 'New' tag to bring attention to these things.
I think Alex Smith did just fine, I say stick with him-- his one interception against the Colts was a tipped pass that was right on the money and the receiver (I think it was Crabtree) tipped it to a Colts' defender. Any QB that would've thrown that pass would've had it picked off.
And I second the notion, to improve the passing game, the 49ers need to get better at WR, not play the 'QB shuffle' game.
