Ozzie Guillen comments on Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez
by CriticalFanatic

You could say he thinks highly of Jeter.

I've been a little disappointed we haven't heard at least one offensive and disparaging remark from Ozzie Guillen yet this season. If it takes the Yankees coming to town for him to get more microphones in front of him than so be it.

Problem is, this comment in response to as question about Alex Rodriguez was not offensive or disparaging. It was, however, classic Ozzie:
"This kid can play. It's a shame when you're that good and everything that happens in New York, they blame him. When you make money and you're the best in anything, whatever happens around you, they'll blame you -- and he's the best at everything. I always say Jeter is God. When you talk about him, you're talking about the best player in the game and someone you respect. But when you talk about Alex, people just think about money, and that's not fair. This kid earned the money. This kid plays hard every day for his money, he prepares every day for his money. People said he had a bad year last year -- 35 home runs and 121 RBI. Wow, I wish I had a bad year like that. That's the price you pay to want to play for New York. He's done everything in his power to play for the Yankees. He even moved to third base to play for them. That's what New York fans should look at. This was one of the best shortstops in the game, and he was willing to move to third base to play for you guys, and you don't appreciate that. But that's New York, and that's Yankees fans."
Besides the obvious above, you have to love Ozzie being straight with the media at all times. We're due for an offensive remark, any day now. Sox are visiting the Cubs this weekend, that should do the trick.

Well, Ozzie basically summed up perfectly what I have been saying about A-Rod for the last year!
