Here's a prediction for you: Al Horford will win ROY.While all the attention is focused on who will "win" the lottery by getting the 1st or 2nd pick, I'm not so sure the 3rd place team, if you will, should be all that disappointed. They'll have an opportunity to draft the most NBA ready player available in Horford.
Kevin Durant could be one of the new face of the NBA. Greg Oden has the potential to be a dominant defensive force like Bill Russell. Al Horford WILL get you 20 and 10 every night out. I'm not inferring I'd take Horford over Durant or Oden. The potential there is too high to pass up, but at least team #3 won't have to worry about not getting maximum value from the 2007 draft. I see Horford matching Boozer's productivity right now by year two. By all accounts, he appears a very mature guy and will quietly go about his job with only slightly more flair than Duncan and Boozer. He's been in a winning environment in college and always came up big in the title games. Doesn't there need to be some value for that? What's not to like about Al?
While Durant and Oden get the "savior" talk, draft Horford 3rd is going to save a GM his job for many years.
Who would you draft 3rd?
