Doug Weight Signs With Columbus and NY Islanders. Oh Wait, ESPN just sucks

by rootman54 rootman54 | 34 hrs ago
According To ESPN.com, There Are Two Doug Weights In The NHL Photo
Most NHL fans are familiar with veteran Doug Weight, a longtime Edmonton Oiler who has played for St. Louis and a few other teams of late. But according to ESPN.com, there are two different Doug Weights playing in the NHL!

When I first saw this, I thought no, how could this be? I checked the headshots of each player; this other Doug Weight was in fact different, also eight years younger. He had just signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Then once I glanced over at the amount of points Mr. “Doug Weight” had scored last year, I realized it was Kristian Huselius.

Great editing job to all the boys and girls running ESPN. I truly give you a double thumbs up for this. You would think they might have seen the mistake right away, seeing thousands of people are checking the 2008 Free Agent Signing Tracker page a few times every hour. But no…

But congratulations to the Blue Jackets on signing Doug Weight Kristian Huselius. Huselius is locked up for four years at a $4.75 million average per year. Coming off of a 66 point season last year in playing with Jarome Iginla, Huselius should be a great deal of help to Captain Rick Nash.

Of course, I cannot say Rick Nash ever again without directing you to this video:

The Huselius deal was one that HAD to be made after Columbus traded away their second best player in forward Nikolai Zherdev and up and coming center Dan Fritsche for two defensemen from the Rangers.

Columbus does seem to be moving in the right direction though. They also acquired RJ Umberger from Philadelphia and Raffi Torres from Edmonton, two players who have proven their offensive talent.

While the Blue Jackets don’t exactly have a great team now, they should be able to compete better in the Central Division next year. With St. Louis and Nashville not doing much yet, I predict a 3rd place finish in the division, right behind Detroit and Chicago.

Sean Avery Is Tired Of Everyone Asking If He's Gay

by 100%InjuryRate 100%InjuryRate | 2 days ago6 Comment Comments »

Sean Avery Tells Off Fashion Writer Susan Kirschbaum In Paris Photo Even though NHL jackass Sean Avery, who just signed a 4-year deal with Dallas, is taking part in a summer internship at Vogue Magazine, I would never question his sexuality. I mean, after all, this guy guy went out with Elisha Cuthbert and may or may not have been a client at New York madam Kristin Davis' house of ill repute.

The dude is straight. Plus he's a hockey player, so he'd kick my butt if I even asked. But let's be honest, it's just flat out dumb to question someone's sexuality. It's none of your business, so just don't do it.

But you know what, some people don't understand that, including fashion photographer Susan Kirschbaum, who ran into Avery in Paris on Monday at a fashion show. Naturally she asked if he was sure he wasn't gay.

Avery decided to leave no doubts for her.
"I'm going home to jerk off to you now."
Perhaps not the best way to voice your displeasure with her question, but I can understand Avery being mad. I mean, how many times do you think people have asked him that stupid question?

Avery apparently also added "And that's a big compliment" before bolting off and later text messaged Kirschbaum saying that "the session is going well."

Again, not the best way to voice your displeasure, but hey, sometimes a rude question deserves an equally rude - or even ruder - response.

Kirschbaum's just lucky Avery didn't check her into the stage. Of course, it'll be interesting to see how Vogue handles this. Me thinks Avery's internship might just end a tad early.
