Rafael Nadal he is not. I'm starting to think Andy Roddick may be the most overrated American athlete (I'm slow, I know). 2nd straight year Roddick has suffered a 1st Round loss to someone you've never heard of. The French must have taken some joy in seeding Andy 3rd, knowing all to well about the embarrassment likely to follow. So what's up with Roddick? Is clay a legit excuse, or has he decided to not give tennis that much of an effort?
I understand we don't grow up playing on clay courts. I wasn't in any way shape or form a world class tennis player, just your above average high school bum, and one of those club rats who had private lessons regularly, played in many tournaments ... yadda yadda you don't care. Only once have I ever, ever played on clay. Lousy experience altogether, but not a surface that should supposedly turn one of the world's best tennis players into a ball boy.
Scott Proctor's Arm (great blog name) has decided that he would make a great Yankee:
Roddick is an overhyped tennis player who is known for only having a hard serve. He has only won one major Grand Slam event, the 2003 U.S. Open.On the bright side, Andy has some time off now to actually work on looking like he does in the cover of Men's Fitness.
If Roddick was a baseball player, he'd fit in perfectly with the post-2001 New York Yankees. He is a big name who is not a winner. He would be a power hitter, who hits long, majestic home runs. But he would not be not a complete baseball player. A Jason Giambi, if you will.
