The Phillies, Mets, Cubs and Dodgers were in the top 10 in salaries last year. You're saying Baltimore Toronto, Kansas City, Cleveland, Oakland, Seattle, et al, are better than Florida, Washington, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Houston, San Diego and so on? Playing one series against the other league doesn't always give an indication of superiority. Ever since the NL had to bail the AL's butt out by taking the Brewers, naturally the AL improved! It can only go one of two ways: The criteria is too weak and you have a museum that takes up 3/4 of Alaska; or You only induct athletes that either transcended beyond their sport (Ali, Jordan, Ruth, Clemente, etc.), or ones that excelled in multiple sports (Jim Brown, Bob Gibson, etc.), which would leave you with a building about the size of a 1-bedroom apartment. Most definitely, they should count - good or bad! It speaks to leadership and the Hall's mandate of a dominate decade played. Would anyone remember Don Larsen if he hadn't thown a no-hitter? What about Bill Mazeroski if he hadn't hit a homerun? Joe Carter had a respectable career - all you have to do is ask Mitch Williams! For every Ernie Banks, there are guys like these that would have gone overlooked if it weren't for the postseason. On the other side, you have your Bill Buckners who remain out of consideration because they DID play in postseason and will not be remembered fondly.Most definitely, they should count - good or bad! Interesting little rant. In the immortal words of Shakespeare, "Much ado about nothing". Cleveland is on the other end of the state. A Cincinnatian rooting for one of their teams is like a New Yorker pulling for Boston - grounds for shunning and verbal abuse. Fortunately for me, I'm not originally from the Queen City! It's obvious we each have legitimate reasons to be a fan of our specific teams. However, the personal attacks is proof of a limited mind. I don't drink alcoholic beverages. A rare genetic disorder caused my "cheap beer" appearance and have the permanently damaged heart to prove it. Also, before degrading places of origin, you should do more research. Missouri wine country rivals that of California, New York and even France & Italy. Furthermore, St. Louis has more offer than you give them credit for commercially and historically. You must travel frequently and exclusively to your beloved Big Apple, otherwise you're merely blowing smoke! Meanwhile, take in a few hockey games. You may find it's not as trashy as you think it is. Of course, there are the other avenues off this street: Teams, like the Mets & Cubs, that have money, but couldn't recognize talent if it dropped into their laps; Franchises, like Kansas City & Pittsburgh, who have been accused of pocketing their Luxury Tax share; and Organizations, like the Cardinals, Marlins & Twins, that have had success on the field, in spite of low salaries and/or finite revenue streams, due to being in "small" markets.
