Favorite Players:
(current and past)
LaDainian Tomlinson, John Jefferson, Antonio Gates, Dan Fouts, Drew Brees, Rolf Benirschke, Kellen Winslow, Junior Seau, Wes Chandler, Philip Rivers, Lorenzo Neal, Chuck Muncie, James Brooks, Stan Humphries, Natrone Means,
Why I am a fan:
I started rooting for the Chargers back in 1978 when John "JJ" Jefferson was a rookie. I was eleven years old at the time. I just thought Jefferson was the most electric player I'd ever seen and I just started rooting for the Chargers. I also thought their helmets were cool...lol.
Favorite Moments:
The "Epic in Miami" in 1982. Beating Pittsburgh in the 1983 playoffs. The playoff win over Miami in 1995 and the AFC Championship victory over Pittsburgh. Winning the division title in 2004. LaDainian Tomlinson setting the single season TD record in 2006. The upset over the Colts in the 2008 and 2009 playoffs.

Why I am a fan:
They're fun to watch and I love seeing them beat the Yankees
Favorite Moments:
Beating the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS after being down 0-3 to reverse the Curse! Winning the 2004 World Series, although that was almost anti-climatic compared to the ALCS. The ovation that Bill Buckner received on opening day 2008 when the Red Sox raised their 2007 World Series banner gave me goosebumps. Never mind about us Red Sox fans forgiving you, Billy Buck......Forgive us!!

About Me

98% Complete Bio
I am a 42 year-old, oh wait, no......43 year-old single guy from Reno. I've lived here for 32 years and it's home to me. I am a sports fan who celebrates the good things about sports. We live in such a day and age that there's so much cynicism about sports and athletes. Money has a lot to do with it. I love how sports can bring families and friends together, whether it's to watch a game with a buddy over a beer at a local tavern or to have a big ol' Super Bowl party with a few dozen people or to go to a game and see it with 60,000 of your closest friends.
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 180
Bats: R
Throws: R
Schools: Nevada
Relationship Status: Free Agent (Single)
Kids: Unfortunately, I have a condition which precludes me from having children. I have been diagnosed with what is called a large "number of women who won't sleep with me."
Occupation: Sales
Companies: 7-Up/Dr Pepper of Reno
Places I lived: Reno, Nevada
Greatest Moment in Sports:1980 US Hockey Team
Greatest Event in Sports:Super Bowl Sunday, any year. It's such a party atmosphere.
Greatest Athlete of All Time:Michael Jordan
Greatest Coach of All Time:John Wooden
Most Fanatical Moment:Wallpapering my room with Sports Illustrated covers when I was a teenager. More recently, though, I uploaded my picture with "Boltman" onto my credit card.
My Sports Superstitions:Wearing my jersey on game day.
Most Disappointing Sports Moments:Chargers losing to the Patriots in 2006-2007 playoffs. Very bitter pill to swallow. Yankees winning 2003 ALCS on Aaron "Bleeping" Boone's HR. Actually threw a chair across the room, "Bobby Knight" style. Not proud of that.
Fantasy Skill Level:I don't play fantasy sports anymore. It stopped being fun when I was more concerned about stats than enjoying watching the game.
Sports I Play:Baseball, Billiards/Pool, Bowling, Darts, Football, Golf, Running, Softball, Table Tennis, Video Games, Volleyball
Nickname:Charger Jim
Current Skill Level:Makes up for skill with intelligence, hustle and desire. "Dustin Pedroia" type player, minus the power skills. Can drain the "3" from the top of the key routinely. Can't drive or penetrate the lane. Terrific hands but can't take a hit over the middle. Used to run well, but 42 year-old legs don't move as fast as they used to.
Highest Organized Level:High School
Athletes I've Played With/Against:I played in a charity softball game against Rod Martin (Raiders LB who intercepted 3 passes in Super Bowl XIV) and DB Sweeney (played "Shoeless Joe Jackson" in "8 Men Out"). I actually got the game-winning hit in the last inning. They intentionally walked the guy in front of me to pitch to me. BIG mistake!
Sports Trophies/Awards:3-time MVP of my softball team. Winning the "Mr. Hustle" Award on my softball team. 5-time "Gold Glove" winner on my softball team.
Career Highlights:Playing softball on the same team as my dad. Being a part of ten league softball championship teams. I was the Reno "Pitch, Hit & Run" champion in the 11-12 year old category in 1979. Didn't make it past regionals, though.
Career Lowlights:Being cut from the varsity baseball team. I stopped playing organized baseball after that.
Sports Injuries:Sprained my knee breaking up a double play. Missed 2 games.
Games I Usually Attend:Each year I try to make the trip from Reno to San Diego at least once to see a Chargers game.
Greatest Sporting Event I've Attended:Baseball games at Candlestick Park with my parents when I was a young boy. The Chargers-Jets MNF game in 2008 with my cousins. Nevada Wolf Pack football games at Mackay Stadium in Reno.
Sports People I've Met:Steve Garvey, Rolf Benirschke, Paul O'Neill, Randy Myers, Lester Hayes, Pete Rose (complete jackass)
Sports Figures from my Hometown:Matt Williams (Giants & Diamondbacks 3rd baseman)
Most Prized Sports Possessions:My Johnny Bench autographed photo.
Sports Trading Cards:I used to collect baseball cards, but it stopped being fun about 6 years ago and became more of a chore.
Athlete Autographs:Johnny Bench
Favorite Sports Collectibles:I collect Chargers memorabilia
Dream Sports Job:Working with Casey McCall and Dan Rydell and the rest of the Sports Night crew.....Yes, I know it was only a TV show, but that would've been a great place to work!
Favorite Jerseys:I only wear jerseys with my name on the back.
Favorite Sports Brands:Starter, Champion Gear
Favorite Ballgame Foods:Hot Dogs, Chili, Cheeseburgers (I don't like mine with Relish OR tomatoes, but A-1 Sauce & Ketchup suits me fine)

Ugliest Athletes:Sam Cassell. Mike Tyson.

"Jessie's Girl" Parody by Dave Mencarelli
Teams Jim Hates
Denver Broncos
Why I Hate Them: Playing in the same division as the Broncos for so many years has created a natural rivalry. Plus I have friends who are Broncos fans and we just let each other have it.
Players I Hate: I don't "hate" players. With free agency so rampant, you're not so much rooting against most individual players, you're rooting against laundry. And I am so happy that the Broncos sent Jay Cutler packing!!! Good luck with Kyle Orton! HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!
Oakland Raiders
Why I Hate Them: Same reason I hate the Broncos. I do hope that Al Davis lives forever because as long as he's running that team, they will continue to be a laughingstock. HAHAHAHAHA. Yes, your team has won 3 Super Bowls. Good for you. What have they done lately?
Players I Hate: Don't hate any player
New York Yankees
Why I Hate Them: The Steinbrenners and the arrogance of the entire organization. I was at a Burger King in Reno and one of their employees who happens to be a Yankee fan saw my Red Sox shirt and gave me a hard time about how the Yankees have won 26 Championships and the Red Sox, just coming off their 2007 World Series title, well, not so much. He told me to come back and talk to him when the Red Sox have as many titles as the Yankees. I got my food and told him that wouldn't be a problem because he would probably still be working at Burger King.
Players I Hate: Alex Rodriguez, or as I like to call him "E-Rod." I would say Derek Jeter, but I have to admit, if he were on the Red Sox, he'd be my favorite player
Dallas Cowboys
Why I Hate Them: Jerry Jones and the overall arrogance of the entire organization
Players I Hate: Terrell Owens.
New England Patriots
Why I Hate Them: I used to like the Patriots but then came the 2006-07 Divisional Playoffs. Marlon "Bleepin'" McCree.....all you had to do was knock the ball down or go to the ground after intercepting that pass, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! You wanted to "take it to the house." Whatever. Thanks a lot, Troy Brown and Tom Brady and Reche Caldwell and Rosevelt Colvin. I'm glad the Colts beat you in the AFC Championship that year. Can't stand the Cheatriots.
Players I Hate: Don't hate any player
Boise St. Broncos
Why I Hate Them: They beat us EVERY DAMN YEAR!! I will confess that I rooted for them against Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl back in 2007. The Nevada Wolf Pack and Boise State have been rivals ever since we were competing in the Big Sky Conference
Players I Hate: Don't hate any player
UNLV Runnin Rebels
Why I Hate Them: Because they are the Nevada Wolf Pack's cross-state rivals.
Players I Hate: Jeff "The Traitor" Horton. Former head coach of the Nevada Wolf Pack who bolted to Las Vegas one day after preaching loyalty to his former players. Jackass.
