Exactly my thoughts...I like the addition of Wallace...provided he can keep his cool come crunch time. He can be as much of a handicap as a help. I also think LA with Artest can now become a much better defensive team. I think Bynum will be the difference maker if he finally grows into his size. Power rankings are about as important as the pre-season...We all know the good teams. We all understand the Colts, Steelers, or Pats will most likely be in the Super Bowl going against one of the NFC's bests, which I think is Vikings, Saints, or Eagles. I rambled on about that before, and since that is what I said in the article, I definitely agree. I even went crazy and suggested 8 twelve team divisions based solely on geography. Maybe I really want to renew that Pitt/Penn St rivalry. It makes sense, cuts way down on travel, and at the end. you have a nice tidy playoff with the winners of the 8. The others get their bowl games, 2's play 2's, 3, 3's etc.
The idea here though is that the SEC is WAY overrated. They are not so far head and shoulders over the rest of the NCAA. I am willing to bet Miami could march into Gainesville and beat the Gators. Every year we see this...Alabama's great defense, its non-existent offense, meeting up with a better balanced Florida team. Because the Tide (and SEC) have this perception, this might as well be the BCS game. But it's not.
See, the wonderful thing about the NFL--I can write my opinion that the Broncos are overrated, that Orton is the weak link...but, I will be proven right or wrong on the field. We don't have it in college football.
If there is any controversy at the end of the year, we as fans should boycott it. Do not turn on the TV, give a big screw you to the BCS. Scary to think what the Phillies can do if Howard gets the bat going....somehow I doubt Utley will see any good pitches the rest of the series given his incredible numbers and Howard's incredible numbers...even if they are K's, it is pretty impressive, or depressing if you are a Phils fan...
I still think the Yanks are in control, but...we saw one struggling Phil come to life last night in Ibanez, what if Howard follows?

College Football is a mess. There is this perception out there that certain conferences are tougher than others. I present to you this little comparison.
Conference A:
Team Red - 8-0
Team Blue - 7-1
Team Black-...
on paper, they could run the table, but even the Bucs could sneak up on them, you never know.
I think this is a schedule that is almost too soft. I voted Falcons only because I can't pile on the Pat bus, figuratively, but NE comes in after 3 weeks of scrimmages, and I think that hurts the Saints. If anything, the Steelers schedule last season proved they could beat anyone, week in week out, and instilled a huge amount of confidence and swagger. Feeding off cream puffs...? One is okay, 6 out of 9, watchout for becoming fat and lazy and getting smacked in the proverbial fat mouth by a strong defensive team, like say Vikings or Eagles.
Still, Saints are scary good so far. I can't think of a more balanced team. The Vikings are close, with the Eagles & Steelers in that discussion as well. Now that I have watched a few Saints games, here is my only concern: Every single game I have watched has had a defensive touchdown, and key INT's (drive killers, in the Red zone, etc). At some point, you will play a team that does not throw an INT, or fumble.
That is where that offense comes in though. A lot of options, with depth...scary~if Pierre Thomas played on any other team(that did not take him out or could get so pass heavy), he'd be top-3 in the league. My Top 5...All Day, CJ, Pierre, MJD, and Michael Turner.

Bush is a bust when you consider how highly he was taken(come on people, the 2nd guy chosen!!!), and what he was supposed to bring. I was one who thought that draft was terrible, with Young and Bush being way too hyped. At the NFL level, Bush's speed is not so much faster like it was in college, and I felt he just would never be that #1, 1,500 yard rushing, 1,000 yr receiver, numbers some "anal"ysts were throwing around. Oops, typo. Oh well, lost my backspace key.
The counter was, Barry Sanders was small, and look at his career. My counter was, that is Barry Sanders, that is a once in a lifetime athlete.
Bush has a definite role on the team now though, and he can be very effective. I vote bust only because he now fills a role, coming off the bench, where he was supposed to be the man.
LenDale White? Well, let's just say he was waived on my fantasy football team pretty quickly.
Watching him, I always said he'd be the better pro, but he'd need to get in shape, and get his attitude right. He did that last year, and I just don't know what happened this year. Maybe a Titan fan can fill us in more. Bush is a bust when you consider how highly he was taken(come on people, the 2nd guy chosen!!!), and what he was supposed to bring. Come on guys, quit being so hard on the guy....Just look at that completion percentage...That is 63.6%...
Even more gaudy is his absolutely incredible, mind blowing stat of 4.95 yds/att.

I always love when guys come out of these tiny schools.Hopefully he does make it to the pros.
Best thing of all, after running that guy down on the 2-pt conversion INT, he gets up and does nothing, no celebration, no jumping around...Just all hustle and no self congrats.....
The Steelers have two great stories in Willie Parker and James Harrison. Not to mention Jerry Rice. I always love when guys come out of these tiny schools.Hopefully he does make it to the pros.

Like I said, it goes on everywhere, yes...but when you are watching the game, and all you hear for much of the game is "CC Sucks, CC sucks," it is a very poor example of sportsmanship and respect. The amount of Insert Name "Sucks" cheers vastly outnumbers the Let's Go Phillies or whatever chants they have. I think it is sad.
Like it or not, perception, in today's society, is reality. Philly has earned that perception...

Ah yes, the good ol' Bucs...funny how they fire Tracy and he takes a team no one gave a shot and got them in the playoffs. Maybe not the managers fault?

Holy Homerism Batman!!!!!!!!!!!! That was most definitely intentional...or internal as you put it...
Spikes is dirty...what about the play where it was blown dead and he basically headbutted the UGA RB ?
He should get suspended...for the rest of the season...you do not try and poke out someone's eye...It does not take a lot to detatch a retina. I've seen many a basketball game where a finger or hand to the eye causes damage.
As for the Crystal football....what a joke it will be this year. Oregon may be playing the best of any team out there, yet Boise knocked them off so they will get no consideration, plus we still have all those undefeated teams. People may bash Iowa for struggling against Indiana, but the wind played a huge part of that game and those INT's...Sorry, but a Texas/(Florida/Bama Winner) NC is not going to crown a champion this year..not even close. Well, looks like Pat, and myself, are correct....For the life of me I do not understand the decision...It's pointless to play what if, but the excuse that Lee has never pitched on short rest is silly...it is the WORLD freakin Series...you do everything you possibly can to win, and there is a nice off season waiting to get back those days of missed rest.
Also, was it me or was the home plate ump in that game terrible? He was all over the place, equally bad for both teams, with an edge to maybe more Yankees being on the bad end...The Tex at bat after his called 3rd strike typifies what I mean...all of the sudden, pitches that were strikes were not in that next at bat. Homer pick of course, the Steelers...but with good reason....if they stay healthy, the same team is on the field as last season, minus Nate Washington and Bryan McFadden. Mike Wallace is a legitimate game changer, added to a much improved offense this year. If they can cure their fumble woes, and play Steeler defense, they can do it. No team is unstoppable and I feel very comfortable with Dick LeBeau scheming against the Pats or Colts.
If it is not the Steelers, I think the Saints have a really good shot this year...their offense is scary balanced (just fix the playcalling so it becomes that) with a combo of very good WR's to go with a nice 1-2-3 RB punch...Pierre Thomas continues his under the radar status, since Bell gets all the TD's, but I think that guy has the potential to be great...just USE HIM!!!! Bell is a good compliment, and Bush still has some value when you want some trickery or flat out speed and create some mismatches on pass plays.
With the Saints, their D must continue to play the way they have, and not last week vs. the Dolphins...Had Ted Ginn not had his debilitating Braylonitis come back with a vengance, the Doplhins would have won that game.

I'd take over the Nats...now that they have a legit #1 starter capable of winning the cy young in a few years in Strasburg...then it would be some full scale gutting...still, the kid stays healthy, a big IF in baseball, a guy throwing 103-105 isn't bad to build around, not to mention, draw a crowd at the old ballpark. Wow....
In the salary cap "era" it is definitely more difficult...but the Steelers kept most of the pieces in place, and upgraded elsewhere (Mike Wallace=HUGE upgrade over Nate Washington...if Sweed could catch, I think you could make an argument Ben has the best WR/TE to throw to in the league...I mean top to bottom before anyone freaks out, and Sweed can't catch, so...)
The defense was off to a slow start, but with #43 back, the ship is slowly being righted. Holding Allday to 68, and Farve to zero TD's, not to mention putting up 14, yes...the defense, combined with the improved offense gives them the best shot to repeat of any team in recent history trying to do it...other than the Pats, who did...Wow....
