FIFA is the one to blame. Obviously. They are the governing bodies. They make the rule. Doesn't matter at all wheter the French or Irish pleaded for a rematch, they suppose to find a solution for the sake of the sport in the favour for both team. I am pretty sure Blatter have seen the footage of the incident in the match. They should do something about it. Unfortunately, like what Celticfc411 said, nothing will change. That is not sportmanship. For me Henry was one of the best players of modern football, but having done that blatantly, admited it and still get away with it? Man that is just shameful. But the most incredible thing is that awful refereeing like this continues on the international stage. And until FIFA don't instrument the use of video replay for this kind of actions in a very important games, this kind of joke will continue again and again and again. That is not sportmanship. Obviously it was a wrong move. He has repeated the same mistake when he joined Juventus. In Juventus and sadly also in Barcelona, the coach put him as winger. In sport, you can never get things done instantly. To achieve something great, there is always a long process that you have to get through. What have happened to Madrid has proven that big money and a bunch of star players will not guarantee that a team will easily win everything. And after shockingly beaten 1-4 in aggregate by Alcorcon in Copa del Rey, I think Madrid will have a very small chance to win even a single trophy this year. That's right mate. United has that tradition of never depend everything to one player only. Cantona, Beckham and Keane have been the soul of the team in each of their era, still after they are all gone, United still manage to maintain their good record. I also think Ribery would be a good choice to fill in the empty shoes. But it wont be that easy to get Ribery to play in Old Trafford though. United has a very strong competitor. Real Madrid is also in the race to get the signature of the French Wizard. Also, if given enough time, I think Nani can be a good replacement too. This particular player has been the soul of Portugal in World Cup Qualification Play-off while Ronaldo is still struggling with his injury. That's right mate. I guess you are right that United did feel a large sting. But to say that United will struggle because Ronaldo is not there anymore is kinda harsh. United is struggling now simply because in modern football everything is so unpredictable. Other teams are just getting stronger now. United without Ronaldo is not like Liverpool without Gerard or Roma without Totti. About the winger thing, I guess in modern football, every player in every position are expected to provide defensive cover.
