I love to do all the fun stuff that camping entails; fishing, hiking, swimming, making s'mores and having a few cold ones around the fire - I even love to cook over an open fire. I just hate sleeping outdoors. The ground is hard, and even if you use an air mattress it's always colder than I'd like it to be, and damp, until the sun bakes you in the tent (which I *must* use, because I'm not sleeping among the creepy crawlies) at the buttcrack of dawn. There are weird noises, and around here you have to worry about mountain lions, bears, Sasquatch, other campers (where my husband insists on camping, there are no "normal" people camping near...it's the kind of people who inspired Deliverance), you name it. Haha yes we have a 9 year old goldfish. One of my friends got him for me when I was pregnant with my daughter. Actually there's a story behind him too; my friend bought me and my coworker both a goldfish from Walmart. My coworker's goldfish ate mine, and so he got me a new one and we put them in the same bowl again (like idiots). Then mine ate her goldfish - so I brought him home. Since then, he has endured chocolate milk, orange juice, rusty nails, dandelions, pennies, and I'm sure I'm forgetting more - in his tank because my daughter liked to give him treats and presents when she was younger. He also took a ride out of his bowl under the refrigerator one day (his bowl fell over). I had to pull the refrigerator out and pick him up, put him back in. My mom and I are great friends now. We were really close when I was growing up until I hit about 14-15 years old and I went through my "I know everything" phase. Then after I moved out, got married, had my own life (without grandchildren for her) for several years etc. we were close but didn't really need to talk all the time. Then I had my daughter, and mom and I talked a lot more - funny how that works - but we didn't always get along. One day about 6 years ago I realized that it all had to do with my mom's mood - it wasn't just "the way she was". I noticed that on the days she called me, she was always in a good mood and we got along great. Some days when I'd call her, she was very negative and made me feel inferior. We're a very open family; we don't let too much bug us for long without saying something to the person - so I said to her when I had my epiphany, "Mom, I'm not calling you anymore and risking catching you in a bad mood. I love you with all my heart, but I don't like the way you make me feel sometimes. So from now on, you call me so we can avoid any of that nonsense." Now she doesn't take it personal that I never call her without her asking me to (sometimes she emails me to call when I have a chance to chit chat - she knows I'm busy), and she never calls me when she's bitchy - and we're closer than ever. My rottweiler mix barks every time she hears Owen Schmitt's name. I say "what? what's wrong with Schmitt?" and she goes nuts. This is something we discovered one day while watching a game. The broadcasters were calling him "Smitt" and my husband yelled at the TV "It's SCHMITT, A**Hole!". My dog started barking for what we thought was no reason until we figured it out that she was barking at the name. My basset just talks all the time - ask him a question and he thinks he's answering. 1 - Once upon a time, my boss did pretty much do my job - so I'm sure he could do it again 2 - This is a tough question because I don't hold any ill-will toward my boss, nor do I really have anything I would think it would be hilarious to see somebody else do even if I did. I've always been pretty lucky actually - almost every single boss I've had worked their way up from the "bottom", so they appreciate(d) their employees and know what they have to do on a day-to-day basis. Some of them still did it (the veterinarian I worked for cleaned cages and filed, developed x-rays, etc. and once in a while the GM at the car dealership I worked for would help me print deals when it got busy) even after they'd become head honchos. The only Exes I've been able to remain friends with were the only ones that it never got very serious with. If anything ever happened between me and my husband now, it would be very difficult to remain friends with him because I know it would rip me apart not to have it all.
