To those people that think the Lakers should sign AI, think about this. AI is NOT a point guard, this was proven throughout his career. He is a shooting guard, and one that needs to control possession, and is not a distributor. He plays a wing-it style, something that wouldn't be a match into Phil's triple-post offense unless AI decided to learn it and play within it's confines. We've been down this route before with Gary Payton, who by the end of his sole season under the triangle had become disinterested, simply standing up at the 3pt line, passing away and not trying any offensive moves or penetration, and relegated to the bench in 4th qtrs. I LOVE AI, but he has shown he doesn't want to come off the bench, be a 2nd (or 3rd, 4th, 6th...) option which he WOULD be with the Lakers, and has shown he is more interested in stats than team achievements.
Just picture this scenario: The Lakers get hot, go on a 10 game win streak, then a game that AI gets 11 minutes coming off the bench. AI gets mad, dresses and leaves the locker room without talking to the press, then shows up at practice and says 'I didn't sign up for this, I gotta get more playing time'. Now isn't that a LIKELY scenario? I, for one, don't want to see that happen. So, please Lakers, don't sign AI! I love AI's game, but not his head! Don't bring him onto a championship-level team!To those people that think the Lakers should sign AI, think about this. AI is NOT a point guard, this was proven throughout his career.
