I can't imagine Amaro and the brass not offering a hefty contract to him. That would take a lot of the pressure off of Hamels, Happ, and Drabek. He's too good not to covet and was completely unreal this post-season. This is a no-brainer!

I'm about as big a fan of the Phillies as anyone, but even I think this is crazy. Do I think the Phillies were better than they played? Yes, absolutely. Do I think the Phillies are better than the Yankees? Not sure, but I do know that the Phillies did not deserve to win this series. They didn't pitch well (except for Cliff Lee) or hit well. They never really responded to Yankee surges with surges of their own. They were outplayed and the final tally showed it. Jimmy's entitled to his own opinions, but I think there are few people that would agree with him. I don't know - I think there are too many variables with this. I think you MUST get two quality starts out of Lee and if the best way for this to happen is to let him go in Game 5, then you do that. I agree with Scott, Blanton was going to have to go at some point. And I think he did about as well as he could have been expected to do. Actually, I think he surpassed my expectations. As much as I hate to admit it, the Phillies just aren't playing as well as the Yankees. Every time the Phillies do something to put the Yankees on the defensive, they come right back and even it up or go ahead. This is what good teams do - they respond to adversity. The Phillies aren't responding on the mound (Lidge), on the field (Damon goes from first to third?!?) or at the plate (Ibanez and Howard have been terrible this series). At some point in time you have to make the plays instead of hoping the other team won't make the plays. Right now the Yankees are making the plays. Of course, I hope this changes.... While A-Rod was huge last night, I think more credit should go to Damon. I his AB and then the base-running rattled Lidge more than the hits that were gotten after. The Yankees have been much tougher than I thought they would be. Except for Game 1, every time the Phillies have made a move or done something well, the Yankees have come right back to match or out-do what the Phillies did. Whether it's runs, pitching, or base-running, it's hard to beat a team that refuses to be out-played. I've had this same discussion more times on this site more than can be counted. Yes, some Philly fans are TERRIBLE fans. Yes, some of them behave in an absolute classless way. Yes, some of them are to be written off as the terrible people they are. However, I think it's short-sighted to lump all Philly fans into that category. I know you stated that it wasn't everyone, however I believe the inclusion of that statement to be obligatory instead of sincere. Of course, it's much easier to ignore all of the other towns that say and do terrible things and single out Philadelphia as a whole. It's easier to be "clever" and call the town Filthadelphia (man, that's so terribly original. I bet it's NEVER been used before. Seriously, you should consider a copyright for that thing so no one else steals your intellectual property! Seriously.....it's gold). Have fun and take your shots. It's an easy target and about 15% of the people (or mob) you refer to really deserve the ridicule. As a life-long Philly fan that's never booed for Santa or turned over a car or dropped the f-bomb in front of my kids or anyone else's kids, I'm going to continue to find a way to cope with the shame of being a Phillies fan.
