If you look at the stats, guys like Toby Gerhardt, Ryan Matthews of Fresno State, Case Keenum of Houston and maybe even Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska or CJ Spiller from Clemson should be on stage at New York. It always saddens me when the good people in this world are taken well before they should. I've always enjoyed Chris Spielman for the things he has done on and off the field. He fought right along side with his wife against this deadly disease and together, they went above and beyond to raise contributions to help the cause. Stephanie will be missed but we all know that Chris will continue this fight for his wife until a cure is found.It always saddens me when the good people in this world are taken well before they should. I would agree with that. Unfortunately, I've listened to alot of different sports talk radio who think otherwise. They think Tebow is the front runner right now, even though the stats should tell them and everybody otherwise

Scott commented on Tim Lincecum wins his second Cy Young award in a row. He becomes the first pitcher ever to win Cy Youngs in his first two full seasons in MLB.

Whoever made that argument is wrong because Wainwright led the NL in innings pitched. What won this Cy Young for Lincecum is the fact that the Cardinal pitchers took enough votes from each other to cancel one another out. Lincecum came in 2nd in first place votes (Wainwright had more), second place votes (Carpenter had more) and third place votes (Wainwright had more). Yes, Lincecum may be the best pitcher of the bunch but no way did he have the best season. Whoever made that argument is wrong because Wainwright led the NL in innings pitched. If the award went to the player with the best year then we'd see Ryan Matthews, Case Keenum, Toby Gerhart and Ndamukong Suh in New York for the final voting with any guy being deserving. Instead, we'll probably see Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, Mark Ingram and probably Keenum as the 4 guys, with either Tebow or Ingram winning because of how they play in the SEC title game.If the award went to the player with the best year then we'd see Ryan Matthews, Case Keenum, Toby Gerhart and Ndamukong Suh in New York for the final voting with any guy being deserving. I knew I expected too much from the Baseball Writers of America to get the voting right 2 times this year. Tim Lincecum had a good year but IMO, both Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter were just a tad bit better

I have all the respect in the world for writers who actually pay attention to what is going on and dont just vote for there own because they cover them. Schulman is 100% right in his assessment, this year Carpenter is much more deserving then Lincecum and the proof is right there in the stats. I think it'll be an in justice if the 2 Cardinal starters dont get voted ahead of Lincecum, and this is coming from the guy who is one of the biggest Lincecum fans outside of the state of CaliforniaI have all the respect in the world for writers who actually pay attention to what is going on and dont just vote for there own because they cover them. IMO, there are too many off days once the postseason starts. You can run a postseason series just like you can a regular season series. Play Tuesday/Wednesday, off Thursday and then play Friday/Saturday and Sunday. For a 7 game series, add an off day Monday and play Tuesday/Wednesday. Unforunately, Bud Selig lets the networks dictate the schedule so I'll believe he'll fix this when it actually happens.IMO, there are too many off days once the postseason starts.
