Why I am a fan:
|
I remember as a small kid listening to the Cubs on the radio with my dad, about 1959. Hearing Ernie Banks hitting a homerun. I lived in Decatur, Illinois at the time, My dad being from Chicago began telling me about his childhood experiences at Wrigley...and the dream began.

Kyle Busch Scrapbook (NASCAR)
|
Richard Lee Petty raced in the Strictly Stock/Grand National Era and the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. "The King", as he is nicknamed, is most well-known for winning the Nascar Championship seven times (Dale Earnhardt is the only other driver to accomplish this feat), winning a record 200 races during his career, winning the Daytona 500 a record seven times, and winning a record 27 races (ten of them consecutively) in the 1967 season alone. (A 1972 rule change eliminated races under 250 miles (400 km) in length, reducing the schedule to 30 [now 36] races.) Petty is widely considered the greatest NASCAR driver of all time. He also collected a record number of poles (127) and over 700 top-ten finishes in his 1,185 starts, including 513 consecutive starts from 1971-1989.
Kyle Busch - Those who disapprove of the Chase format have a new standard-bearer in Busch, who was arguably the best driver in the Cup series in 2008, at least through the regular season. For the first time in his short but brilliant career, he won races on every kind of track that NASCAR could throw at him -- superspeedway, short track, road course and intermediate oval -- and he did it across all three series. He was undone in the Chase only by factors beyond his control, suffering a stunning series of mechanical failures and accidents in the first four races. If he and his team can avoid such mishaps in 2009, then his first Cup championship should be well within reach. Written by SI Vault.

Hates
| St. Louis Cardinals | |
| Why I Hate Them: | Every 'true blue' Cub fan must dislike its top rivalry. The Cardinal fans always rub in how many times they have won the World Series and when they were last their compared to our Cubbies. So I hate the Cardinals even though I respect them. |
| Players I Hate: | No player in particular, just the team as a whole. |
| Chicago White Sox | |
| Why I Hate Them: | I can not stand the South Siders. Being a Cub fan, the sox fans suck! I even more hate their present manager who trashes Wrigley Field. I cannot even secretly rout for them when they contend in the playoffs. Oh and when I have to watch the Cubs play the sox on WGN when the sox announcers announce "he gone" for a cub being struck out....I just about puke. Or when a Cub hits a popup to the outfield and the announcer always says "can of corn"...I'am so glad for good Cub announcers!! |
