I live for New York Yankees baseball about as much as anybody that I know does and I'm really something of a baseball addict. I have the MLB Extra Innings package so that I can watch my Yankees games from the comfort of my own home out here in Texas. I love to talk about my favorite team in all of professional sports and the team with the richest history of any team in professional sport. I wear my fanship on my sleeve at times and I believe in sticking by your team and your players thick and thin, win or lose. Being a New York Yankees baseball fan is a big part of my life and I love meeting new fans and friends and chewing the fat about baseball, sports, and life in general... And of course, endlessly discussing everything about the Yanks --- past, present, and future. My favorite currant players are Mariano Rivera, Chien Ming Wang, Andy Pettitte, Derek Jeter, Melky Cabrera, Hideki Matsui, and Jorge Posada. My all time favorites are Bernie Williams, Paul ONeill, Donnie Baseball, Thurman Munson, Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin, Scott Brosius, Yogi Berra, and "The Chairman of the Board" Whitey Ford.

Favorite Moments:
any moment in which we beat the Red Sox, clinched a division and/or a playoff spot, clinched a pennant, won a playoff game, won a play off series, won a World Series game, or Won a World Series Championship. The home games of the 2001 World Series were awesome. Giambi's two homers off of Perdo in game 7 of the 2003 ALCS was great to watch... Watching Aaron Boone hit is extra inning walk off homer off of Tim Wakefield in game 7 of the 2003 ALCS was amazing. Jason Giambi's first Yankee Grand Slam in the pouring rain against the Twins rocked. Seeing Matsui homer in his first Yankees game was really cool. Rocket's 300th win was amazing. Watching Jete dive into the stands to make that catch back in 2004 against the Red Sox was really spectacular. Clinching the division on the last day of the 2005 regular season was emotional and amazing. Beating the Mets in the Subway Series in 2000 was really special. Too many moments to recount them all.

Favorite Moments:
I was at the ballpark for the last game of the 2005 season when Michael Young won the AL Batting Title in that game. That was special. Also a double header against the Boston Red Sox in 2003 when the Rangers won both games. That was sweet. Beating the Red Sox on opening day this year was sweet too. Basically any time I get to see the Red Sox lose in person it's pretty sweet.

Some folks only have one favorite team and really I have several. My favorite team of the past several years has been the Mavs and nothing (outside of Yankees baseball games) matches the feeling of being at a Mavs game live in person. My favorite players right now are Jerry Stackhouse, Dirk Nowitzki, and Josh Howard. I love the NBA Western Conference as a whole and love Spurs/Mavs games. When it comes to the NBA in general my favorite of all time player was Magic Johnson and a few of my other favorite all time players are Patrick Ewing, Tom Gugliotta, Dan Majerle, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dennis Rodman, Hakeem Olajuwon , Shaquille O'Neal, and Charles Barkley. As for any NBA teams that I hate or that I hated... I hated the Bulls and I always will and at this point I have no love for the Golden State Warriors. I also used to have Karl Malone as a favorite --- but he got bumped when he was one of the people to come out against Magic Johnson coming back to play and after he was a jerk to one of my friends who wanted his autograph back when we were kids.
Why I am a fan:

Favorite Moments:
Watching the Mavs make it to the 2005 NBA Finals and then this year watching their magical 2006 regular season (before it got spoiled by a dismal playoff exit).

I liked the "Showtime" Lakers back in the day and I liked Shaq when he was there. Also, I noticed one of the questions in the sports IQ quiz was whether or not Magic was better than Larry Bird. There's not a question in my mind it was Magic. The man could do it all. And I think that Pat Riley and Phil Jackson were the best NBA coaches ever.
Why I am a fan:

Favorite Moments:
Watching Magic Johnson come back after announcing his retirement in the 1991/1992 season to nonetheless still be voted into the 1992 All-Star Game and then winning the '92 All Star Game MVP after he led the West to a 153-113 win.

O.K., My name is Mike and I live in central Texas and am a big baseball fan. An addict actually ... I subscribe to MLB.TV, MLB Radio, and MLB Extra Innings so that I don't have to miss a game. And my favorite team is the New York Yankees. I also root for my home town Texas Rangers (as long as they're not playing the New York Yankees at the time). I like pro basketball and professional boxing and just like sports in general. My TV is almost always tuned to sports of some kind. The rest of this profile will tell you more if you wanna know more. I'm always up to making new friends and if you like chatting about my favorite teams and sports in general, just drop me a line !

Greatest Moment in Sports:any time the New York Yankees win and the twenty six most fantastic and utterly fulfilling moments in the history of American professional team sports are the twenty six separate games that ended with the New York Yankees being presented with a World Series trophy.
Greatest Event in Sports:the World Series (especially if the New York Yankees are playing in the series that year)
Greatest Athlete of All Time:the greatest athlete in the history of sports was either Willie Mayes or Mickey Mantle. The answer to that question can vary depending on the day that you ask me that question.
Greatest Coach of All Time:In baseball it would have to be Joe Torre followed closely by Billy Martin, Leo Durocher, Connie Mack, Joe McCarthy, John McGraw and Casey Stengel. Tommy Lasorda was also great. Also Tony LaRussa and Bobby Cox are both fantastic baseball managers. In football I am partial to Tom Landry and in basketball it's between Phil Jackson and Pat Riley
Most Fanatical Moment:Blow off work to fly to Tampa, Florida by myself for a week to see the Yankees at Spring Training last season.
My Sports Superstitions:If my team is winning I can't change seats or leave the room. In baseball if it's a crucial at bat for our team and we need a base hit badly in a clutch situation I can watch the pitch set and throw but I have to close my eyes before the ball gets to the batting area and open them again after the ball is either hit or not hit. I've never seen some of our most important hits until they show them a few seconds later on replay...
Most Disappointing Sports Moments:The Red Sox winning the 2004 ALCS. That was almost as bad as them winning the 2004 World Series. It's pratically a tie between those two. Then not too much further down on the list is the Marlins winning the 2003 World Series and any time that we suffered a regular or a post season defeat to the Boston Red Sox or the Anaheim Angels.
