Some things to consider: 1. Stoops' dream job was at Florida, replacing Spurrier. He didn't jump then and OU would surely sweeten the pot to keep him now. 2. He's about family, and has (I believe) four kids under the age of 14. If he stands behind his talk, he won't uproot them for more money. 3. His wife is also very nicely entrenched in her own Mary Kay business in Norman. They certainly don't need the money but, with the above family to think of, he's made references to her not wanting to start over in a new town as well. 4. The dips who are calling for his head right now aside (who apparently have overlooked the loss of nine starters and have forgotten the purgatory years of coaches Gibbs, Schnellenberger, and Blake), Stoops is worshipped as a God in Oklahoma. I'm not sure he'd want to share that title and adoration level with Notre Dame's God of worship and Touchdown Jesus. 5. Stoops bristles at the media bs he has to put up with now and that would surely multiply in a larger market with an even more demanding media and fan base. Something else he learned from Spurrier is that bigger isn't always better. All of the above may turn out to be crap but, as someone who lived through the post-Switzer nightmare that was OU football from '90 to '98, that's what I'm keeping myself warm with at night when these rumors and sources start flying...
