Went in rooting for the underdog in Rogers...afterwards even more respect for FEDOR and thinking Rogers has no class, respect, and is just a flat out idiot. He gives no respect to arguably the greatest fighter on the planet and says if he threw more he would have won. The guy is such a knucklehead that he does not realize that what he has been doing is no different than what Kimbo was doing. Anyway, just hate to see disrespect especially when someone just got dropped by someone way smaller than them. That to me is just a complete and total punk move. He does not deserve a rematch. FEDOR now knows what he is about and would pick him apart the next tiem. Also FEDOR knows he will come in "throwing more" and will just drop him earlier than last night. I went into this thing rooting for Rogers. I thought after that first round Rogers had Fedor figured out and was going to finish him. I stand and watch now though and bow down as Fedor can take it as well as dish. He is truly a Champion of Champions. I don't know if he can beat Lesnar or others in UFC but we all as fans will be robbed if that never comes to fruition. As for Rogers, I was a semi fan and did go in rooting for him but his attitude at end of fight to me was poor. There was no aknowledgement of Fedor from him...nothing. He made it seem like it was his fault. And after stepping back a minute to think about this fight, If Rogers would have thrown more like he said he should have, Fedor would probably have taken him out sooner. Fedor is a genius in the ring on his feet or on the ground. That second round, wth the nose ripped apart and not sure if broken but looked like it, he waited for that opening and just layed into that punch like a cleanup hitter. Now that is a part of NY that people don't see often and is beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us. I was born in Brooklyn and lived in Long Island until I was about 15. So I saw the city and the way it was then saw the beauty of Long Island. Now I live in Arizona which everyone thinks is desert but if they only made a trip up north they would see that Arizona has much more to offer in beauty. It is just up to people like you to show them. I bet most people think NY...and think overhead trains, brick buildings, and graffiti. This shows a nicer part of NY. I had a nice post in here...and it just vanished after I posted. Went blank. Anyway, was going to say I agree for the most with Pat. I made some sarcastic remarks about WE but I think that needs to be revisited because most sports fans that get emotionally involved with their teams tend to use that word. Also, remember that folks that generally having disdain towards Yankee fans do cause an us versus them mentality so the WE becomes a bit more prevalent from a Yankee fan. And in general by looking down on the train of thoughts after Pats article, it seems like there are still a lot of people that just want to hate all Yankee fans even if they don't know them. And last I have been a Yankee fan since about 1969 which back then, it was not popular to be a Yankee fan. That was the year of the METS. I have followed this team when they had comparable salaries and I have news for everyone here. They were just as hated back then as they are now...well maybe not as much but still severely hated. The money part just made it worse is all. Anyway...I do agree with a lot of what Pat said. I tend to disagree slightly though on the WE comment but that is simply a matter of opinion. Because if you wanted to get technical, Yankee fans are hated more than loved. Yankee fans are pushed into an us vs them mentality and the WE factor is formed. That is the fault of those that are really hating on the Yankees fans with major dislike and anger. I had a nice post in here...and it just vanished after I posted. Went blank. I beg to differ but time will tell. What I see is Eli Manning for one when he was off his confidence throwing balls high. This has happened in the past. All it will take is one game for him to get his confidence back and he will be throwing off his front and following through. Right now he is throwing off his back foot and not following through causing bad passes, tips, and INT's. As for the D, that secondary is a good secondary. The line is the same line for the most part and the linebackers are the same. There is a major missing of confidence and Pierce needs to fix that within. You can call it a sham at the end if your Saints hold on and finish higher than the G Men. I think Big Blue is gonna turn it around. Of course nobody gave them a prayer the year they beat the Pats either. So please, keep calling them sham, and I insist you recruit others to do so. That may be just what they need. We will see. That is a good point but, same thing in football. Ref blows whistle dead on a pick or a fumble, dude runs it in for a TD or just stops based on whistle so the bad call on a fumble or a pick would be in the same mindset as you lay out. Honestly, in every sport there is a reaction or non reaction to a bad call or a good call. Hockey too. So the ref blows the play dead yet the puck is still around the corner of the crease....could someone have tipped it in? Sure. So anytime you use replay in any sport there is reaction and non reaction based on the call. With this said, there is no in between. They need to state rules and make the black and white and live with them. Example: On any judgment call in the field for Baseball, the play is reviewed at the point of the mistaken call. Wherever the players were at the time, they remain. If they say no catch, Posada stays at second and Cano stays at first. If they say catch, they uphold the call. I do see the challenge though that you noted. It is huge. But what is worse, doing that or having bad calls snowball and don't even try to adddress it? It is obvious something needs to be done. I guess I have one last alternative. Get some umps that can see? Make sure you do have your best umps in the big games? I mean if we were not human, we would be fine. I did joke once about robots playing ball for our entertainment so we don't have to deal with pampered ball players and out of control salaries. But, with that concept, how about cyborg umps that just don't make mistakes. Sci Fi is not that far off of being reality on these types of things. Who knows. All gloves and balls would have nano technology on them. Bats, you name it..... This would trigger the right calls. It would also mae the strike zone consistent all the time every time. That is a good point but, same thing in football. At least one thing has come to my attention, it is not just about the Yankees. This has blown up and out of control on everyone. Problem Selig is not getting is that it is impacting outcome of games most likely due to sheer momentum swings. It is robbing the fans of accuracy especially when they have so much emotionally invested in their teams. And last and certainly not least, the players that have worked so hard, forget how much any of them are paid, are getting robbed of making truly highlight reel plays and getting that taken away from them. There should be no problem with exactly the method Pat proposes. Pat, you need to get a petition and get some heat on Selig with all of our backing of course. I am sure you can muster up quite a bit of support for that. "In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing." My son pretty much stopped watching wrestling after a few events over the past decade or so. I would watch casually with him at times. One of the events was the Eddie Guerrero death. Another was the Benoit debacle. And the other was the events behind Terry Boleas son's vegging of his supposed best friend and not even so much as the event itself but the way the family handled it. All of these events led to good life discussions for me and my son so for that there is one thing to thank wrestling for. All of the garbage that exists and the real people that do stupid things opened my son's eyes to these things for good father son reality discussions. That said, if we still watched at times, Hulk Hogan coming anywhere would make us shut down for sure. Just my opinion but I am sure there are others out there that have the same thoughts on him. His self defense mechanism makes him just a poor example of a human being. That has been handed down to his son so we now have two complete derelects to humanity in the world. I like to have forgiveness in my heart but I can't seem to find it for people that have no remorse. That is one of the lessons my son has learned that I am fully behind as that is the way I feel. This is such a shame...how can they make so many bad calls...i mean they have been blowing calls at first over and over too for both teams safe and out. This is outrageous. Has to be the most horrible umping I have seen in .......forever. The Angels have been beating themselves too. Good throw from Rivera and out at home. Good throw while A Rod headed home...out too. The Angels are beating themselves as much as the Yankees are beating them. I aint no homer. I admit it when I see it. Umps horrible, Angels beating themselves. Then the phenominal lineup of the Yankees. The only way the Angels have a chance is by playing great baseball. And that they are not. We can go back to games 1 and 2 on same thing. Angels are giving the Yankees too many chances to succeed. No doubt about it...like the Yankees need any extra help...this has been terrible. Bad check swing calls...bad calls on corners from pitchers on both teams. They are ruining what could be a classic of a series. Instead of a 1 run extra inning game now the Yankees are running away with it. Gotta say that I don't like winning like that and I would rather watch the Yankees win in 13 instead of a blowout. No doubt about it...like the Yankees need any extra help...this has been terrible.
