and Notre Dame goes down again. UConn really should have a better record than they do, but what a win for that program and the Big East. I do respect Charlie Weis though. He's in a tough situation at a storied program, and takes an awful lot of abuse, yet he keeps going out there and doing his job (maybe not very well, but still). Not sure about the treatment, but several Liverpool players who were supposed to be out for several weeks received it, and were back playing today

Not if I get there first. Anyways, I'm torn on what should be done. Those who say that playing the match over could set a dangerous precedent have a valid argument. As do those who say that if there ever were an appropriate time for a replay, this would be it. I'm going to split the blame between France and FIFA (sorry Roy Keane, just shut up for once and stop raining on the country you represented). The French Federation should have requested a replay. Had they done so, they would have my undying respect. And to be honest, I think the French would win a replay. In a winner-take-all in Paris, my money is on Les Bleus. But I'm going to hang a lot of blame on FIFA. So often they take the convenient way out, without regard for what is right with the game. And this is a prime example. Sepp Blatter, as president of FIFA, has the leadership abilities of a tomato. And FIFA is responsible for the referees and linesmen. That the officials could miss first the offsides, and then the blatant double handball, reflects poorly upon FIFA. Unfortunately, nothing will change. And the Irish will wonder what could have been. Hopefully France will match their performance in 2002 with a 3 and outNot if I get there first. Anyways, I'm torn on what should be done. If I recall correctly, a lot of people and "experts" were pegging Ryan Leaf to be a very good (i.e. better than Peyton Manning) quarterback at the next level. I think they've been trying that, or something like that this year in the Europa Cup (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). They've added 2 more linesmen, but I don't think it's worked out too well.

I like Henry as a player, but he shouldn't be setting foot anywhere near Ireland for about the next 50 years. Ireland had chances to win the game, and probably should have converted those chances. And there's no saying whether or not France would have won in the end anyways. But to lose a game like that...it just hurts. In my opinion that's worse than the blown handball call which led to the US getting bounced from the 2002 World Cup. But I still don't want instant replay in soccer. It works in baseball, since it's a slow sport. It works in basketball and football since those sports have breaks built in. But I don't think you can change soccer to allow the time for replays.
