(current and past)
Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Eknath Solkar, Chandu Borde, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Hemant Kanitkar, all from India; and Gary Sobers, Rohan Kanhai, Donald Bradman, Imran Khan, Geoff Boycott, Glen Turner, Glen Mcgrath, Alan Border, Alan Knott, Peter Pollock, Barry Richards, Sanath Jaysuria, Courtney Walsh, from the rest of the world cricket playing teams.
Why I am a fan:
I was an outsider in cricket during my primary school days. My class mates would discuss cricket and show off their scrap books and sideline me. I felt very hurt. I went to the market and bought about 30 to 40 very old magazines of sports and passtime. I read them and within 2 to 3 days I had developed a liking for the game. My mind automatically became a storage device for cricket records and I started remembering names of players, the countries they played for, the difference between test and first class matches, etc. etc. I started going to watch the live cricket matches on Pune's Nehru Stadium between Maharashtra State and other teams whenever they were held here. I then decided to play the game in school. My classmates would not let me bowl and I was always sent in to bat at either 9, 10 or 11. I would even sometimes not find a place in the team. I decided to start on my own at home. I gathered some local boys of different ages and made my own team. They were all poor boys. I purchased a low cost cricket kit and started playing with them. I was ofcourse the automatic captain. Within a week, I had learnt to bowl fast and bat a little sensibly. I used to just hit out first at every ball, but after watching professional matches at the Nehru Staduim, I understood how important it was to defend and hit only the loose balls. I imitated the professional bowlers for measuring the run-up and the bowling jump before final delivery and in no time I became a master of fast bowling, at school levels. I became a menace to other teams. I fixed a match with my school team and just created a havoc by destroying them in both the innings. I even scored nearly 25% of my team runs. The next day I was the talk of the school and I automatically became the opening bowler as well as the one down bat. I went on to play all around my district and even representated my college and university dept. teams. I never used to miss any test match - be it running commentary on radio or live on TV. If I did miss it, the next day, I had to read the newspapers and/or see the highlights on TV. My IQ was increasing day by day and I was considered a computer in remembering statistics and names of players, their achievements, etc. I had a huge collection of around 5000 to 6000 photos in my scrap book. Even at this age, whenever I get an opportunity, I play cricket and love to bowl. I have still not lost the sting I had in my hey day. I find that 20-20 is not right for cricket as it has spoilt the very meaning of the game. I would prefer to have a shorter version of this game by having a 50 overs match split into two innings each of 25 overs - to make it more attractive and lucrative - and give the team with the lower score in the first innings a chance to cover up and change the final outcome of the game. I am sure it would be more exiciting. I hope some big head does read my this idea and put it on the cricket map. This is how much I love cricket.
Favorite Moments:
Watching Sunil Gavaskar bat against the west indies in Pune for the west zone and hitting sixes against Andy Roberts and company under Clive Llyod. Listening to the live commentary when India got England out for 101 under Ajit Wadekar and later going on to win the test match, thereby making it 2 rubbers in a row for India, first one in 1971 against the west indies. What a welcome the players got when they came back. I also cherish the moment when India under Kapil Dev won the World Cup in 1983 and cannot the lucky bowling of Mohinder Amarnath in that game.

Favorite Players:
(current and past)
Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Shoaib Akhtar, Majid Khan, Hanif Mohammad, Zaheer Abbas.
Why I am a fan:
Because when India and Pakistan play any form of game, specially cricket, the roads become empty, the people are glued to TV sets anywhere they can find one, crackers fill the sky with celebratory noises, bets flow freely, fights ensue limitlessly, sportsmen spirit fans mumble quietly, electricity providing govt. departments are ransacked if power goes, local buses are easily available for sitting, nearly 50% of Govt. staff go on sick and earned leave, theaters run with scanty viewers, and in general people become half mad.
Favorite Moments:
When there used to be a duel for supremacy in the game between Sunil Gavaskar and Imran Khan; When India used to play the final in Sharjah on a Friday; Whenever India romp victorious against their arch foes Pakistan.

Favorite Players:
(current and past)
Allan Border, Bill Lawry, Don Bradman, Glen McGrath, Dennis Lillee, Steve Waugh, Doug Walters, Ian Chappel, and many others.
Why I am a fan:
They are a real professional side and play the game in its true spirit and sense. Only if they could control their anger and excitement. I consider Bill Lawry to be the best captain Australia ever had followed by the great Sir Don Bradman and Allan Border. They are all three a class apart.
Favorite Moments:
When Bill Lawry carried his bat in a test (Australia were tottering at 24 for 6 under Bedi and company in India) and saved Australia from disaster and humiliation.

Why I am a fan:
They are a never say die team.
Favorite Moments:
When they were barred from tests and Kerry Packer was haunting Australian cricket, Bill Lawry led a strong Australian side to South Africa - but they were washed away by the South Africans. Graeme Pollock scored a magnificent 274 - which I still recollect after nearly 4 decades have elapsed.
