Sports gambling should be allowed with restrictions....the best way to moderate this is to treat it like lotteries which most states already participate in. With a system like this in place states would be able to take a stake in the millions that would be available and put it to use to benefit a failing infrastructure. Housing, roads, utilities, and so on could be subsidized with the monies to make needed improvements and bail out cities that always seem to be in financial crisis....this would also alleviate some of the burden on tax payers.Sports gambling should be allowed with restrictions....the best way to moderate this is to treat it like lotteries which most states already participate in. RileyJames47 and others posting here make excellent points to the various reasons why Hockey is not a popular sport here in the U.S. but I have to say that it truly dependant upon where you live. Most northern states that neighbor Canada have "rivalries" and sport an enormous following for hockey; Pro, Collegiate, and below...they are used to enduring the colder conditions associated with hockey whereas other sports are played and enjoyed in fairer conditions and more likely to bring out new followers as Dad's, Mom's, Grandparents and so on bring their children and granchildren into the fold of major league sports. With my mother being a Canadian and my father from PA, hockey was a pasttime that I enjoyed playing and watching but as I moved around the world following my father through his military career and then moving through my own miltiary career I lived mostly away from the "Northern Territories" and saw less and less of a following for hockey. I dont think hockey ever lost its popularity its just enjoyed by less diverse group.
