I wanted to say Howard, but Hamels edged him out by a narrow margin. I think the lack of confidence in him was a huge factor. If he is the Hamels of last year, he starts game 2 and the Phillies may have left NY up 2-0. Instead, Charlie wanted to make sure he was comfortable and let him itch in front of the home crowd. The guy who was #1 pitcher (until Lee came along) needs to step up in the World Series. Team USA is not the same thing because it was not "his" team. The Lakers are Kobe's team. These superstars you are talking about with the Lakers were role players for Kobe (with the exception of Shaq).

Great season by the Phils. Two years in a row getting to the World Series is quite an accomplishment. I expect to see them back again next year.
