Italy looked to have secured victory when Alessandro Delvecchio put them ahead early in the second half but Sylvain Wiltord rescued France with an equaliser four minutes into injury time (just as the Italian bench were starting to celebrate). And France completed the comeback in sudden-death extra-time when Pires found Trezeguet, who rifled a brilliant left foot finish high past Toldo. The French become the first team to add the European Championship to the World Cup...The most exciting sporting moment in my life, i had never screamed like that :-)  |
