Very sad - I remember several years ago when Spielman shaved his head in support of his wife. Never heard anything for years and wondered how she was doing. Cancer, unfortunately, touches nearly everyone's lives (my husband was diagnosed a few months ago but is currently cancer free thank God). Well, 70% is my guesstimate, but I've been to two Daytona 500s in the last several years and the hatred for JJ by Junior fans is rampant. Everyone I know personally that is a fan of any driver other than Jimmie hates him. Compared to some on here, I'm a relatively new fan to the sport (since 2000 - fan of JJ since 2004), but I get the feeling both wins and championships are important. The lack of relevance and importance (or buzz) that JJ is about to make history is, I believe, caused by two things: 1. 70% of NASCAR fans back Junior, and hate JJ and his mentor Jeff Gordon. Therefore, they could care less and are downplaying this achievement. 2. The 10-race Chase format. I've heard many say that they feel it cheapens his 4-peat; however, I don't see any other drivers stepping up and giving him a serious challenge except for Carl Edwards last season. Gruden is better suited for coaching in the pros, seeing as how he didn't seem to like working with young QBs (Simms, Gradkowski, etc.), so he definitely wouldn't have the patience dealing with college QBs.
